Meeky Mouse

Meek Mill has apparently called off all and any internet beef he has with The Game. It’s been a long year for meek after taking L, after L after L. Rumor on the street has it that meek snitched on Game, which prompted the Compton native to put out 2 diss tracks. The first one was “92 bars” which went straight at meek and mentioned Nicki Minaj. Meek responded by putting out “OOOUUUU Remix” which Game responded by putting out a remix to that entitled “Pest Control. While Meek says one thing, it seems unlikely that he actually sticks to his word. But in the mean time, he can hold this L.

J. Cole Please Don’t Leave

Jermaine Cole put out 2014 Forest Hills Drive back in 20014 and to say it’s a classic is an understatement. The album sold 353,000 copies within its first week without any features. J. Cole has done a lot for his fans, with one dollar concerts to being on tour for the past two years ever since the release of 2014 Forest Hills Drive. J. Cole is for the people, Cole has been involved in giving back to his community and has been seen out marching with Black Lives Matter protesters. Cole recently said after a show that he will be taking a break from music for a while, whether its to work on an upcoming album or just a break in general to just relax and reap the rewards of his hard work. Cole is a newly wed, maybe he’s taking time off to spend with his wife and maybe start a family of his own. Cole taking time off to work on an album is the only thing that I want to believe is happening, the fans yarns for new music from Cole and he will be blessing us if that’s the reason for his soon to come hiatus. Cole stated on a song on DJ Khaled’s new album, on the song “Jermaine’s Interlude” that he’s played with thoughts of retirement and to hear him say that his last show will be the last for a while has some fans in their feelings to say the least. Is Cole really considering retirement or is he just taking some time off to work on a new album? Lets hope that’s the case. Dreamville to the end of the world and back!

Hubby to the Rescue

Earlier this week, Kanye West unfortunately cut his Meadows Fest set short due to a “family emergency”. While fans spent the rest of the night and much of the next morning speculating why the T.L.O.P. rapper didn’t finish his performance, we now know it was to catch a jet to Paris. Reports claim that two suspects posing as Parisian Police Officers held the receptionists at gun point within the private mansion that Kim Kardashian is inhabiting for Paris Fashion week. Upon being held at gun point, the suspects allegedly forced the receptionists to open the doors to Kims quarters and upon entering, then held Kim at gun point until they locked her in the bathroom. Apparently the value of what was stolen in jewelry and cell phones is thought to be in the millions. To no surprise, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian arrived back in NYC yesterday with a heavily increased security presence.

The Game V.s. Weak Mill

Meek Mill should honestly retire from hip hop and and go somewhere and chill. In all honesty, Weak is not made for beefs in hip hop. According to the Game, Weak Mill snitched on him regarding Sean Kingston getting robbed in the club in LA for his jewelry. Game reported on Instagram that he did not rob Sean Kingston. Game’s with Weak Mill is because he snitched on him, Game flowed through with a diss track to Weak titled “92 Bars” which definitely had some bars and totally annihilated Weak Mill. Meek obviously followed with a diss track of his own titled “OOOOUUU Remix” featuring Beanie Sigel and Omelly (the roadie).

Meek’s track wasn’t as good as Game’s but that was expected. Weak Mill is becoming the Ja Rule of today’s rap game as far as beef goes and his career is almost at its end. He has peaked and climax. I personally don’t think he can go back to being the old Meek Mill. Meek has had his run in hip hop, although it was short lived, he is the wife of Nicki Minaj, I mean that’s kind of a come up, I guess.

Kanye on the Gram

For some reason, two of the biggest and most influential people in the music industry simply refuse to create an account with Instagram. Of course I’m referring Jay Z and Kanye West. It appears Kanye has caved as a brand new and even ‘verified’ IG account has been recently discovered. At the moment there’s only one picture uploaded from the account and NO it’s not a warm smiling selfie. Instead, Kanye opted for a rather obscure picture depicting a scene from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1990 film, Total Recall (see below).

It’ll be interesting to see where this goes and if Mr. west is here to stay. Which makes this story slightly ironic considering his Wife and her siblings (Kim Kardashian & Kylie Jenner) have the most followers on Instagram in the world.

Birds In Waterloo Sing McKnight

Almost a full year later, fans now have Travis Scott’s second studio album, Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, firmly in their hands. The album dropped September 2nd and has already surpassed sales expectations.

The sound of the album is best described as experimental layers of sound and acidic instrumentals that intertwine with raw, unpolished, and heavily filtered vocals that convey an enthusiasm that has come to be known only as Travis Scott.

The features aren’t too surprising, except for Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, and the absence of Justin Bieber. While that might sound like an odd combination, the two are actually quite close with each other and Bieber even appeared on his last album, Rodeoon one of the standout tracks.

The Rap Up: End of the Year!

What’s going on with Kyrie, Kehlani and PND?

As many of you may have recalled, Kehlani and Cleveland Cavaliers star point guard, Kyrie Irving, were in a relationship. Over the last week, an image surfaced on Party Next Door’s (Kehlani’s ex-boyfriend) instagram. The image included a hand that had the exact same tattooing that Kehlani does on the same hand. This photo was also taken in bed, firing up the rumours even more. While rumours ran rampant that Kyrie and Kehlani were still dating, the former was quick to clarify exactly what the situation was on his twitter feed. He provided clarity that him and Kehlani were not in fact dating at the time that Party Next Door posted the picture. Later that day, Kehlani posted a picture of herself hooked up to a UV packet while in a hospital bed, stating that she wasn’t cheating and that she had tried to end her life that day. Later, she thanked Party Next Door for everything he had done for her. While this situation is still very confusing, Kyrie handled it in a very mature matter, assuring that PND was handed the L and not him.

Meek Mill still taking L’s

While this may come as a surprise to some, many can expect Meek Mill to continue his losing streak that is his life. Meek, currently serving probation, reportedly ordered his crew members to go to a Footlocker that Quentin Miller was at and force him to admit that he was indeed a ghostwriter for Drake as well as issuing an apology to Meek for making him look like an idiot. Well, Miller refused and one of Meek’s henchmen knocked him out. Meek then went on Instagram and posted a photo of Russell Westbrook with the caption being ‘what?’. Meek has since proclaimed that he knows nothing about the attack and that he did nothing to contribute to the situation. Whatever the issue is, Meek is still taking L’s this year.

Drake has 2 songs leaked

Speaking of Meek, his arch rival Drake has had 2 songs from his upcoming album, Views from the 6, leaked. The first song, entitled Controlla, features reggae artist Popcaan. Controlla is more of a slow burner/reggae dance hall type of music. It’s similar to Drizzy’s song with RihannaWork. The second song is an electronic ballad entitled These Days. I personally don’t like it a lot and compared to something you’d hear in your grandma’s ’99 Lincoln sedan that still has a cassette tape player. I’m just excited for Views and hope that it’s 6God’s most lit album to date.

The Rap Up: Waves Never Die

Nicki & Meek sitting in a tree

Usually when we speak on Meek Mill, it’s because of his feuds with other rappers, however it’s pleasing this time around to hear Meek is taking some time from his twitter fingers to focus on his future. While it wasn’t exactly from the philly rapper’s mouth, his girlfriend and Hip-Hops baddest female MC, Nicki Minaj gave everyone an update on the couple’s situation. If you follow Nicki on any social media you’re probably aware that Meek has promised Nicki with 3 rings and so far has given her two. According to Nicki, it’s not official to her until that third ring finds a finger and also not the only milestone she hopes to reach in life within the near future. After the wedding, assuming things go to plan, Nicki revealed plans on entering motherhood and her excitement at the thought of holding her own child. While the rest us wait on wedding bells, Meek looks to resume recording music however that can’t happen without a judges approval, and its looking theres a lot of “waiting” to be done with these two.

T.L.O.P… IS… ALIVE…

Much like Dr. Frankenstein’s monster, The Life of Pablo is bigger than life, misunderstood and ALIVE. Yes, according to Kanye West T.L.O.P is a living breathing artistic expression that he plans to keep on updating. Recently Kanye edited “Wolves” back to its original version featuring Vic Mensa and Sia while also keeping Frank Ocean’s 30sec verse on the tail end (THANK GOD…or kanye?). As far as albums go, no other artists has or is attempting to utilize a music streaming medium to enhance, develop and keep fans coming back… Assuming you’re messing with the album, it’s sort of like your favourite painting, touching itself up from time to time. It seems with each passing week Kanye Fans are still excited about the possibility of something else arriving… We just aren’t quite sure if itll be a new Yeezy Bosst colour scheme, epic twitter rant, album, or another version of “Wolves”.

Kanye Being Kanye

There are many things about this world we don’t know, and in similar fashion there are many things we do. Included in the things we know forsure; water is wet, light illuminates darkness, fire is hot and when Kanye West goes on a twitter rant, Its nothing short of EPIC. This recent spectacle was instigated by Wiz Khalifa who in a series of tweets, which made light of Kanyes appropriation of the term “waves” from hip-hop pioneer Max B. Things really got out of hand when Wiz added a cryptic “kk” in one specific tweet which Mr. West promptly mistook for a reference to his ever-so-coveted wifey Kim Kardashian. After an immensely entertaining exchange of words from both sides, it’s now been confirmed that Kanye West has indeed called Wiz to apologize and according to both artists things are “all positive”. We’re glad Kanye and Wiz worked it out, and be sure to check out both of their upcoming albums.

Meek Vs Drake

This is beef is over. It shouldn’t be a topic right now. However, that’s far from the truth. After dropping “Charged Up” and “Back to Back” last July, Meek Mill dropped “Wanna Know” which was just horrible, therefore, he didn’t stand a chance to win the beef. Fast forward to January 2016 and Meek took, yet, another shot at Drake through his own version of “I’m the Plug”. Surely enough the “6ix god” dropped “Summer Sixteen”, which took shots at Meek. One verse specifically references a time in the Summer when Drake and his crew were staying on the floor above Meek and Nicki Minaj, Meek’s girlfriend, blasting Back to Back. However, this is where it gets interesting. Not even 15 minutes after Drake’s newest single dropped, Meek released part 2 of his 4/4 EP. The song “War Pain” specifically references that night in Toronto and other parts in Summer Sixteen such as when Drake states “I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay” as well as making mention of Drake’s dance moves in “Hotline Bling”. Shortly after releasing the 2nd part of EP, Meek took to instagram and captioned a picture of him laughing as “the ghostwriter told me”. This raises questions about whether Drizzy does indeed have a ghostwriter or, perhaps, a mole in the OVO camp. However Meek was able to retaliate so fast, this beef seems to be taking the form of boxing match. Drake won round 1 but Meek has come back and is looking more prepared for Round 2.

Future Looks Bright for Future

Turns out SnapChat isn’t the only company DJ Khaled has been working with recently. Khaled announced several days ago that he had actually inked his own deal with Apple Music. We’re not exactly sure what that entails, however we do know that DJ Khaled will be premiering his new radio show on Beats1 this Friday (5th). Now we know Khaled isn’t for everyone. That his ad-libs and shouts can get old really quick however the man knows music, and can probably curate a better playlist than most people on the airwaves. But, what’s better than the premiere of a brand new Beats1 show? How about a double premiere? and by that we mean the premiere of Future’s new album EVOL which will debut on the show Friday (5th). If you haven’t caught the wave yet, you might want to get acquainted before it’s too late to bite.

The Rap Up: All Eyes On Kanye

Kanye Makes Moves

Yeezy seems to making major moves in the music industry as of lately. Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, announced that the enigmatic rapper would be dropping a new song every Friday and so far he has done exactly that with the releases of “No More Parties in LA” and “Real Friends”. Another huge revelation was the release of Kanye’s highly anticipated album, SWISH. West announced on January 8, 2016 that the album was bound to drop on February 11. Some of the songs which are already released but will be included on the album include “Only One”, “Real Friends”, “No More Parties in LA”, “FourFiveSeconds” and more hits that’ll leave us wondering “Damn! How did ‘Ye do it again?” On top of his new album, Yeezy has had some mixed feelings from individuals all over the world as he announced he might be doing a cover album to honour the late, great David Bowie (Rest in Peace). With Kanye focusing mainly on music for the near future, it’ll be interesting (as it always is) to see what exactly Mr. West does throughout the coming weeks.

Meek Vs. 50

To say that the past 6-7 months have not been the best for Meek Mill, would be an understatement. After getting blasted by Drake during this past summer, the Philly rapper has taken multiple IG hits from 50 Cent. Meek released his EP entitled 4/4 just four days ago and on it, he fires shots at Drake and 50 Cent. On his version of “I’m the Plug”, Meek raps “Jumpman, Jumpman, Jumpman/Jumpman, Jumpman, Jumpman/Ain’t Nobody Tell ‘Em This Ain’t What They Want Man/You Ain’t Really Write It, I’m Like Who’s Your Stuntman”. This verse ties in with the accusations the Meek made during the summer when he tweeted that Drizzy has ghostwriters. But then Drizzy came out with “Charged Up” and “Back to Back” and we all know how the rest of the summer played out. Unfortunately for Meek, Drake isn’t the only one he took an L from. Back in November, 50 Cent acknowledge the beef between Drizzy and Meek , describing it as if “‘it’s like you was picking on someone in the schoolyard, and then the motherf—er,’ he added, before imitating a violent slap, to imitate Drizzy smacking Meek for even trying to diss him.” Meek seemed to take shots at 50 in the track entitled “Gave Em Hope”. As a result, 50 went on Instagram and completely obliterated Meek with a series of hilarious memes and videos. Now, it’s believed that the reason Meek took issue with 50 is because of the beef 50 has with Meek’s close friend, Rick Ross. It seems as though Meek doesn’t know when or where to stop and whether or not Drizzy drops another diss track (still speculation on him dropping 3 peat), another L seems inevitable for Meek.
