Program Director

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Program Director oversees the Radio Laurier programming schedule and works with hosts to ensure high quality on-air and online content. The Program Director works closely with the Station Manager, “staple show” managers, and radio hosts to ensure high quality on-air and online content.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Participate in weekly management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Assemble and oversee the Radio Laurier programming schedule and monitor the quality of on-air shows and online content
  • Hire, train and manage radio hosts and DJ’s
  • Ensure radio hosts and DJ’s are compliant with Radio Laurier Policy and the WLUSP Code of Ethics
  • Assist in the development of on-air shows and online content by training new volunteers and regularly providing feedback
  • Facilitate on-air workshops for radio hosts and DJ’s
  • Provide feedback and guidance to staple show managers (The Morning Show, After Class, and Sports)
  • Communicate information from the Station Manager to all volunteers via e-mail
  • Work with other Radio Laurier managers in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manager

News Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The News Manager is responsible for training and assisting Radio Laurier volunteers in conducting professional and high-quality interviews. This individual will liaise with members of The Cord to help bridge information and news stories from The Cord to Radio Laurier shows, especially The Morning Show.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Attend weekly management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Assemble a News Team of volunteers committed to producing on-air and digital journalism of the highest quality. This team will follow The Cord closely in learning and adapting new practises for Radio Laurier.
  • Ensure all news content produced (on-air & digital articles) consistently meets the journalistic standards of Radio Laurier, The Cord, WLUSP and other high profile student publications across the country
  • Attend and cover events with News Team on the WLU campus and around Kitchener/Waterloo Region
  • Conduct regular interviews with students, faculty and community members
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manager

Production Manager

Job Location: Waterloo or Brantford

Job Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for airing all pre-recorded radio shows, producing on-air content for ads, show promos and PSA’s. Additionally, they would work closely with our Ad Manager to organize training workshops for management and general volunteers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Attend weekly management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Hire, train and manage all Production Assistants
  • Assist radio hosts and DJ’s in pre-recording content when required
  • Record PSA’s and ads by the deadline required by the Station Manager
  • Assist radio hosts, DJ’s and other volunteers with cutting interviews and preparing them to go on-air
  • Facilitate production workshops and workshops
  • Update and uphold the Production Team policy
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manage

Graphics Designer

Job Location: Waterloo or Brantford

Job Summary: The Graphics Designer is responsible for overseeing the Radio Laurier graphics and visuals; including poster creation, online/website visuals, show graphics, event promo, promo videos, style, format, and updating content when required by the Station Manager.

Application: Please include a list of visual softwares you are familiar with. Please review the current graphics on our website (including show graphics) and make suggestions for changes you think would be beneficial to the Radio Laurier brand.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create and update graphics for shows and other website graphics
  • Assist in the creation of promotional material including posters, social media graphics, promo videos, etc. for Radio Laurier events and initiatives

  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manager

Web Editor

Job Location: Waterloo or Brantford

Job Summary: The Web Editor is responsible for the maintenance of Radio Laurier’s website including, style, format and content.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct

  • Hire, train and manage all Web Assistants
  • Update and maintain the website and its content
  • Maintain record of Google Analytics to track website traffic
  • Monitor comments on the Radio Laurier website
  • Facilitate workshops for Web Assistants
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manager

Brantford Director

Job Location: Brantford

Job Summary: The RL Brantford Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Radio Laurier in Brantford. The RL Brantford Director hires and supervises the work of all Radio Laurier volunteers and managers in Brantford.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Facilitate weekly management meetings for Brantford management staff
  • Have weekly phone conversations with Station Manager to liaise and update the Station Manager on current initiatives on the Brantford campus
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Hire, train and manage all Brantford volunteers
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with Brantford Management team
  • Facilitate regular workshops for all volunteers
  • Liaise with the Brantford Manager of Operations regarding disciplinary processes as needed
  • Oversee promotion and production on the Brantford Campus
  • Attend all Brantford general staff meetings unless due warning is provided to the Brantford Manager of Operations
  • Represent Radio Laurier at all meetings and conferences as required by the Brantford Manager of Operations or Station Manager
  • Work with the Brantford Manager of Operations and Station Manager to complete a Strategic Plan for Radio Laurier
  • Ensure and assist both the Brantford Promotions Manager and the Brantford Production Manager achieve their outlined duties
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Brantford Manager of Operations or the Station Manager.

Brantford Production Assistant

Job Location: Waterloo or Brantford

Brantford Promotions Manager

Reports to: Brantford Director

Job Location: Brantford

Job Summary: The Promotions Manager is responsible for managing the Promotions Team and organizing all promotions on campus and in the community at the Brantford Campus.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Attend weekly Brantford management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Work with the Brantford Director and Station Manager to build the Brantford Promotions volunteer position
  • Effectively train and manage all Promotions Team members
  • Hold weekly Promotions Team meetings
  • Coordinate a bi-weekly booth on campus
  • Organize and run all Brantford RL events with the assistance of the Brantford Director as well as the use of the Promotions Team
  • Liaise with the Waterloo Promotions and Branding Coordinator and the WLUSP Brantford Social Media Manager (for social media only) in regards to ensuring there is consistent promotion on both campuses
  • Ensure all promotions and branding are happening in an effective and professional manner
  • Facilitate workshops at general meetings
  • Uphold and update Promotions Team Policy once creating it with the Brantford Director and Station Manager
  • Work with other Radio Laurier managers in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
