Program Director

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Program Director oversees the Radio Laurier programming schedule and works with hosts to ensure high quality on-air and online content. The Program Director works closely with the Station Manager, “staple show” managers, and radio hosts to ensure high quality on-air and online content.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Participate in weekly management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Assemble and oversee the Radio Laurier programming schedule and monitor the quality of on-air shows and online content
  • Hire, train and manage radio hosts and DJ’s
  • Ensure radio hosts and DJ’s are compliant with Radio Laurier Policy and the WLUSP Code of Ethics
  • Assist in the development of on-air shows and online content by training new volunteers and regularly providing feedback
  • Facilitate on-air workshops for radio hosts and DJ’s
  • Provide feedback and guidance to staple show managers (The Morning Show, After Class, and Sports)
  • Communicate information from the Station Manager to all volunteers via e-mail
  • Work with other Radio Laurier managers in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manager

Promotions & Branding Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Promotions and Branding Director is responsible for managing the Street Team and overseeing all promotions on the Waterloo Campus and surrounding community. The Promotions and Branding Director works collaboratively with the Events Manager, Public Relations Manager, Program Director and Show Managers to promote Radio Laurier’s shows and upcoming events.

If you do not have additional connections with local businesses, please include a plan to reach out to businesses to build relationships on behalf of the station.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Hire, train and manage all Street Team members
  • Hold weekly Street Team meetings
  • Coordinate a weekly booth in the concourse
  • Coordinate Street Team participation in all promotional initiatives and events
  • Develop promotional initiatives with other Promotions managers (PR Manager, Events Manager, and Graphics Manager)
  • Ensure all promotions and branding are high quality and conducted in a professional manner
  • Liaise with the Brantford Promotions Manager to consistency across both campuses
  • Facilitate workshops at general meetings
  • Update and uphold Street Team policy
  • Work in a respectful and inclusive manner with all other Radio Laurier members

Events Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Events Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, promotion and execution of all internal and external Radio Laurier events and fundraiser.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the planning of all internal and external Radio Laurier events and fundraisers
  • Ensure Radio Laurier events are consistent with the Radio Laurier and WLUSP mission and vision.
  • Work closely with the Promotions and Branding Director and the Public Relations Manager to ensure effective promotion of all internal and external events and fundraisers
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP

  • Provide at least a bi-weekly show review for programming

Music Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary The Music Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations in regards to music at Radio Laurier. This individual oversees a team of volunteers to process CD’s, create playlists, and suggest new music for the Radio Laurier music library.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Attend weekly management meetings
  • Attend all other meeting or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Contact labels, bands and Public Relations Firms to increase Radio Laurier’s servicing
  • Liaise with the Station Manager and Program Director about other music related tasks
  • Track radio play of all recent music submissions
  • Assemble and mail out weekly charts
  • Screen and catalogue all music received by Radio Laurier
  • Facilitate effective use of charting forms by DJ’s
  • Facilitate training workshops for Music Assistants and DJ’s to improve understanding and useage of Radio Laurier’s music library
  • Coordinate proper communication with the Internal Music Manager
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the station manager

Programming Committee Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Programming Committee Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality and development of all on-air shows at Radio Laurier. This individual will provide weekly updates to the Station Manager and other respective show managers to provide feedback and identify areas of success as well as areas for improvement.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Attend weekly management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Hire, train and manage all Program Committee volunteers
  • Update and consistently review show quality-check surveys submitted by Programming Committee volunteers
  • Provide weekly updates to all Radio Laurier show managers in regard to show traffic and quality of content on shows
  • Facilitate training workshops for Programming Committee volunteers
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote energy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manager

Sports Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Sports Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily sports show as well as all sports programming including live broadcasts; effectively managing all Sports Team volunteers and content.

Application: In this position, you are expected to liaise with Laurier Athletics, please outline in your platform how you would ensure to maintain a positive relationship with this partner and suggest a way we can improve our current relationship.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Hire, train and manage all Sports Team volunteers
  • Coordinate weekly Sports Team meeting

  • Monitor The Morning Show schedule and notify respective manager if there is a conflict with a sports game
  • Facilitate workshops for Sports Team to improve quality of broadcasts
  • Coordinate online features to highlight Athletes of the week
  • Serve as a liaison between Laurier Athletics and Radio Laurier
  • Being the external contact for all sports media purposes, unless otherwise stated
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner

The Morning Show & After Class Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Morning Show and After Class Manager is responsible for coordinating, hiring and managing all DJ’s for daily episodes of The Morning Show and After Class on Radio Laurier. The manager works closely with their team of volunteers to ensure high quality on-air and online content.

  • Update and uphold The Morning Show and After Class team policies
  • Create and continue to update a relevant outline for respective shows

News Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The News Manager is responsible for training and assisting Radio Laurier volunteers in conducting professional and high-quality interviews. This individual will liaise with members of The Cord to help bridge information and news stories from The Cord to Radio Laurier shows, especially The Morning Show.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assemble a News Team of volunteers committed to producing on-air and digital journalism of the highest quality. This team will follow The Cord closely in learning and adapting new practises for Radio Laurier.
  • Ensure all news content produced (on-air & digital articles) consistently meets the journalistic standards of Radio Laurier, The Cord, WLUSP and other high profile student publications across the country
  • Attend and cover events with News Team on the WLU campus and around Kitchener/Waterloo Region
  • Conduct regular interviews with students, faculty and community members
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manager

Public Relations Manager

Job Location: Waterloo

Job Summary: The Public Relations Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing all Radio Laurier’s social media content as well as ensuring professional and regular communications with publicists, bands, venues, and record labels

  • Work collaboratively with the Events Manager, Promotions and Branding Manager and respective show managers to ensure the effective promotion of all Radio Laurier events, interviews, and exciting show content
  • Hire, train and manage a team of Public Relations Assistants
  • Serve as the external contact for all media purposes, unless otherwise stated
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Facilitate workshops for the Public Relations Assistants

Production Manager

Job Location: Waterloo or Brantford

Job Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for airing all pre-recorded radio shows, producing on-air content for ads, show promos and PSA’s.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Attend weekly management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Hire, train and manage all Production Assistants
  • Assist radio hosts and DJ’s in pre-recording content when required
  • Record PSA’s and ads by the deadline required by the Station Manager
  • Assist radio hosts, DJ’s and other volunteers with cutting interviews and preparing them to go on-air
  • Facilitate production workshops and workshops
  • Update and uphold the Production Team policy
  • Work with other Radio Laurier members in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Promote synergy with other departments of WLUSP
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Station Manage

Graphics Manager

Job Location: Waterloo or Brantford

Job Summary: The Graphics Manager is responsible for overseeing the Radio Laurier graphics and visuals; including poster creation, online/website visuals, show graphics, event promo, promo videos, style, format, and updating content when required by the Station Manager.

Web Manager

Job Summary: The Web Manager is responsible for the maintenance of Radio Laurier’s website including, style, format and content.

Brantford Director

Job Location: Brantford

Job Summary: The RL Brantford Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Radio Laurier in Brantford. The RL Brantford Director hires and supervises the work of all Radio Laurier volunteers and managers in Brantford.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Facilitate weekly management meetings for Brantford management staff
  • Have weekly phone conversations with Station Manager to liaise and update the Station Manager on current initiatives on the Brantford campus
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Hire, train and manage all Brantford volunteers
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with Brantford Management team
  • Facilitate regular workshops for all volunteers
  • Liaise with the Brantford Manager of Operations regarding disciplinary processes as needed
  • Oversee promotion and production on the Brantford Campus
  • Attend all Brantford general staff meetings unless due warning is provided to the Brantford Manager of Operations
  • Represent Radio Laurier at all meetings and conferences as required by the Brantford Manager of Operations or Station Manager
  • Work with the Brantford Manager of Operations and Station Manager to complete a Strategic Plan for Radio Laurier
  • Ensure and assist both the Brantford Promotions Manager and the Brantford Production Manager achieve their outlined duties
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Brantford Manager of Operations or the Station Manager.

Brantford Production Assistant

Job Location: Waterloo or Brantford

Brantford Promotions Manager

Reports to: Brantford Director

Job Location: Brantford

Job Summary: The Promotions Manager is responsible for managing the Promotions Team and organizing all promotions on campus and in the community at the Brantford Campus.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Adhere to the WLUSP Code of Conduct
  • Attend weekly Brantford management meetings
  • Attend all other meetings or conferences as required by the Station Manager
  • Work with the Brantford Director and Station Manager to build the Brantford Promotions volunteer position
  • Effectively train and manage all Promotions Team members
  • Hold weekly Promotions Team meetings
  • Coordinate a bi-weekly booth on campus
  • Organize and run all Brantford RL events with the assistance of the Brantford Director as well as the use of the Promotions Team
  • Liaise with the Waterloo Promotions and Branding Coordinator and the WLUSP Brantford Social Media Manager (for social media only) in regards to ensuring there is consistent promotion on both campuses
  • Ensure all promotions and branding are happening in an effective and professional manner
  • Facilitate workshops at general meetings
  • Uphold and update Promotions Team Policy once creating it with the Brantford Director and Station Manager
  • Work with other Radio Laurier managers in a respectful and inclusive manner
