SpectruMusic Week 14 (Bass lines that Slap)

March 14, 2018 by Lucas_GuLucas

Do you love the bass? I love the bass, an instrument that’s so versatile that it goes from dark to funky to noisy to jazzy, it’s amazing what those 4 strings can do!

Anyway the theme tonight was just bass lines that slap and I played some of my absolute favorite bass lines (with only one drum and bass band!) which was a blast to do!

News wise I talked about how Brian Eno has announced a massive 600 dollar box set of a bunch of unreleased works from his career called “music for installations”, which contains 9 vinyls of previously unreleased work. Eno seems to trying to come back to the music scene as his single with MBV’s Kevin Shield’s comes out very soon too. Very exciting to hear it if it’s more amazing ambient from the creator of ambient (or at least the name for the genre).

Also discussed that Billy Corgan has announced that with (most) of the smashing pumpkins back together that they are working on two new EPs! This is exciting because this has so much potential to be great Smashing Pumpkins material again! It has been awhile since we’ve had a great pumpkins album.

Talked about Death Grips working with the guy who made Shrek, why, what, how, who knows. The fact they’re even doing this confuses me but hey whatever, new album this year so I might as well get hype. Shrek Grips is already thing just look below.

Furthermore on the amazing news, Martin Shreleki is going to jail for 7 years and that means he has to give up the 2 million dollar Wu-Tang album that only he owns. This is insane and the fact that this is happening is absurd. Finally we might get to hear it.

Shamir has surprised released his new album Resolution which is pretty cool, I always love a surprise release because you just get it right there, right then.

Also there’s been a Kanye Madness going around twitter recently that has everyone fuming as their favorites are dropped in round one. Personally for me I’m disappointed in Gorgeous losing round 1, what a disappointment.

Anyway here’s the setlist

Life During Wartime – Talking Heads

Leave Me Alone – New Order

Transmission – Joy Division

Waiting Room – Fugazi

Moterhead – Moterhead

Pink – Boris

Losing Friends – Death From Above 1979

Miss Modular – Stereolab

Humming the Bassline – Hideki Naganuma

Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt – The Mars Volta

The National Anthem – Radiohead
