Hey! Listen!
Welcome back to Press Start to BGN, Laurier’s gaming show by a bunch of Game Design & Development students here at Laurier’s Brantford campus. The program is very new and so is our show, so for those who don’t know Game Design & Development is headed by Dr Scott Nicholson through the Brantford Games Network or BGN, hence the name “Press Start to BGN” which sounds like “begin.” This week on the show we talked about many things and we talked them all out with our guest Luke! A fellow game design student. Thanks for tuning in!

What’s Coming Out Soon!
Hello everybody welcome back to Games Out This Week! I’m Paris and I’m totally about to stop talking and get to it!
Last week:
- Shadow of War (PS4, XB1, PC, Android)
- The Middle-Earth series is back with its second installment! Set between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, the story continues following Talion and the elf-lord-spirit dude Celebrimbor, as they work to forge a new “ring of power” to fight Sauron. They bring back an improved version of the Nemesis system, making things a little more strategic and complex. It plays just like the first one though, so that s cool. And then they added lootboxes. Kinda sucks, oh well. Stephan recommends waiting for a price drop, but you do you.
This week:
- Gran Turismo Sport (PS4)
- It’s Gran Turismo!…Sport! The 14th installment of the Gran Turismo series is considered the first of the “Second generation” of GT Sport released for the new generation. It will have a special VR Tour Mode instead of a promised fully compatible VR game. There’s also the other stuff like how the FIA Championship winners will be honored in Paris so that’s cool. I personally like street-racing games rather than track-racing games so I don’t really care for this, but pick it up if its yo thang!
- WWE 2k18 (PC, PS4, XB1, Switch)
- Or like, whatever Stephan said during the show. WWE 2Kbelelelele also has Colonel Sanders as a playable character through create-a-wrestler, so that’s cool.
- Life is Strange Before the Storm: Episode 2 (PC, PS4, XB1)
- The prequel installment of the Life the Life is Strange video game. This time we are playing as Chloe Price and interacting with the story of Rachel and everything that happened Before the Storm.
- Fire Emblem: Warriors (NN3DS, Switch)
- Fire Emblem and Dynasty Warriors have a crossover and it looks like Fire Emblem and plays like Dynasty Warriors. The strategy aspect of the weapon triangle and support conversations from Fire Emblem show up. It plays like a hack-and-slash, and has an original story. Pick it up (if you want)!
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole (PC, PS4, XB1)
- The sequel to Stick of Truth is out! With more backlash than ever! There’s a different fighting mechanic, new game play, less of a HUD, and a difficulty slider that is just a race joke and doesn’t actually change difficulty! It’s also one big Captain America: Civil War joke, so that’s cool. Pick it up? Don’t? I’m not your boss.
PS+
- Thats You! (PS4)
- RIGS Mechanized Combat League (PS4)
- MGSV: The Phantom Pain (PS4)
- Amesia Collection (PS4)
- Monster Jam Battlegrounds (PS3)
- Hustle Kings (PS3)
- Sky Force Anniversary (PS4, PS3, PSVita)
- Hue (PS4, PSVita)
