The Rap Up: March Madness

March 24, 2016 by Brit

Drake the Culture Vulture?

For those of you who don’t know who Mo-G is, he is a Toronto rapper that’s accusing one of his local counterparts of biting his style. This person is none other than the 6 God himself, Drake. Mo-G laid into Drizzy and his manager, Oliver El-Khatib, on Instagram. He alleges Drake only offered him $500 for writing credits while also biting on some of Mo-G’s swag and dance moves. It’s unclear if there will be any resolution, but this isn’t the first time Drake has been accused of stealing someone’s flow. It’s been reported that Drizzy has stolen bits of style from The Weeknd and Puff Daddy. While I’m of those that believe 6 God is too smart to low-ball his peers like this, it’s worth noting that no matter what you put that man’s name on, you’re going to gain publicity. So maybe that’s all this is: a publicity stunt by Mo-G.

Metro Boomin Trusts Batman.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that If Metro Boomin dosen’t trust you, success probably isn’t in your near future. With the upcoming release of the blockbuster hollywood film Batman Vs. Superman (or as we like to say, Battle of the Orphans) quickly approaching, Ben Affleck has been doing some promotional interviews for the media. In his most recent interview, Afflack was asked if he thought Metro Boomin trusts Batman or Superman more, to which he replied Batman. It wasn’t long before young Metro caught wind of the comments and tweeted out to confirm he’s indeed a Batman fan and always has been. Is it too late to cast Metro Boomin as commissioner Gordan?

Young Thug… is on a horse.

Well it’s clear Young Thug is gearing up to release something, we’re just not sure what. All logic pointed to thug dropping Slime Season 3 on March 25th considering his SXSW promotion for the mixtape. If you missed it, several pallbearer’s marched down 6th street, Austin Texas, with a coffin repping bright red spray paint announcing that SS3 would be coming our way March 25th. Over here at The Rap Up we thought this was a pretty awesome way to promote an upcoming mixtape, that was of course until Thugger dropped a video days later promoting an upcoming tour starting the 25th too. Featuring a classic style theatre, Young Thug rides up to the doors rocking rose coloured glasses riding a horse with ruby slippers on. Yup you read that right. The only confusing thing however is that we can’t tell if we’re getting SS3, a Hitunes tour, or maybe both? Regardless WE WANT MORE HORSE INSPIRED ALBUM PROMOTION.
