Moby ‘Innocents’ Review

October 7, 2013 by Shae Anthony

Releasing his eleventh studio album, entitled innocents, American electronic artist Moby has really outdone himself…again. This time around, the LP is a huge collaborative project featuring talented artists; Inyang Bassey, Wayne Coyne, Cold Specks, Damien Jurado, Skylar Grey, and Mark Lanegan.
The eclectic sounds of soft percussion and angelic tunes, which are considered Moby’s calling card, meld together each track and compliment each artist’s vocal performance. “Perfect Life” is an upbeat pop collaboration with The Flaming Lips front man, Wayne Coyne. If you haven’t seen the video yet, it features Moby and Coyne in matching mariachi costumes and I guarantee it will put a smile on your face. Watch it posted above!

Moby includes a few tracks that are strictly instrumental, which are much more soothing and pure. His opening song “everything that rises” would be the perfect track to get the day started with… especially when you’ve got tons of test information crammed in your head and you also don’t feel like listening to the girl sitting next to you list off everything she drank last weekend.

Entirely, Moby delivers the music he is happy to make, and that passion makes the album infectiously joyful for listeners. Essential tracks include: “don’t love me”/ with inyang bassey, “tell me”/with cold specks, and going wrong.
