Welcome back to Press Start to BGN, this week on the show. If you are a first time listener/reader Press Start to BGN is Laurier’s gaming show by a bunch of Game Design & Development students here at Laurier’s Brantford campus. The program is very new and so is our show, so for those who don’t know Game Design & Development is headed by Dr Scott Nicholson through the Brantford Games Network or BGN, hence the name “Press Start to BGN” which sounds like “begin.” Thanks for tuning in!

- One of the three creators of Sonic the Hedgehog, Yuji Naka, has announced that he joined Square Enix this year.
- The Overwatch League administered a four-game suspension and a $2,000 fine after he made a homophobic comment of a member of the Houston Outlaws the player Felix “xQc” Lengyel made the remark on his personal stream following his team’s loss in a match against the Outlaws
- Rocket League is to get cross-platform support this year

- IconoClasts
- The main character is Robin, a naive and helpful mechanic. She lives in a world where the sinister religious authority the One Concern, ruled by a being known as “Mother”, has taken over the government, and allows only licensed mechanics to handle the power source called “ivory” that drives its machines. Due to her attempts to help people in need despite being a self-taught mechanic, the soldiers of the One Concern track down Robin and attempt to kill her, which forces her to escape along with her allies and ostensibly fight back against the One Concern.
- The Inpatient
- The game acts as a prequel to 2015’s Until Dawn, set inside the Blackwood Sanatorium sixty years prior to the events of the original.
- Celeste
- Help Madeline survive her inner demons on her journey to the top of Celeste Mountain, in this super-tight, hand-crafted platformer from the creators of multiplayer classic TowerFall. A narrative-driven,
- single-player adventure like mom used to make, with a charming cast of characters and a touching story.
- Monster Hunter World
- Developed and published by Capcom, and is the fifth primary title in their Monster Hunter franchise. n Monster Hunter: World, the player takes the role of a Hunter, tasked to hunt down or trap monsters that roam in one of several environmental spaces. If successful, the player is rewarded through loot consisting of parts from the monster and other elements that are used to craft weapons and armor, among other equipment.
- Dragonball FighterZ
- After the success of the Xenoverse series, it’s time to introduce a new classic 2D DRAGON BALL fighting game for this generation’s consoles. DRAGON BALL FighterZ is born from what makes the DRAGON BALL series so loved and famous: endless spectacular fights with its all powerful fighters.

- Overwatch
- From Blizzard Entertainment comes their 2016 first person shooter, multiplayer game Overwatch.
Overwatch contains multiple characters to choose from to battle as with their strengths being linked to
four main play categories: offense, defense, tank, and support. Choose your character and fight either
one on one or on a team of six against other teams throughout the game’s various game modes and
maps. With updates and events coming out throughout the year, Overwatch is available on PC,
PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
- From Blizzard Entertainment comes their 2016 first person shooter, multiplayer game Overwatch.
- Hacknet
- Hacknet is an immersive, terminal-based hacking simulator for PC. Dive down a rabbit hoIe as you follow the instructions of a recently deceased hacker, whose death may not have been the accident the media reports.

- Dungeons and Dragons
- Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. It was first published in 1974 by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. The game has been published by Wizards of the Coast since 1997.

- Ori and the Blind Forest
- From Moon Studios comes the single-player, platform adventure game Ori and the Blind Forest. Play as
Ori, a mouse like guardian spirit as you travel across the world you live in on a quest to restore life to
your world; solving puzzles and fighting a variety of creatures along the way. Using the game’s “soul
link” system, players can choose where they would like to save their game and how they would like to

- Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall
- Jessalyn Thornton’s fateful sleepover at the abandoned Thornton estate was supposed to be a pre-wedding celebration, but the fun ended when she disappeared. While her family searches for clues, others refuse to speak about the estate’s dark past. Did something supernatural happen to Jessalyn, or is someone in Thornton Hall holding something besides family secrets? Developed by Her Interactive, it’s up to you as Nancy Drew.

- Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- From Nintendo comes the newest installment in the Zelda franchise, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the
Wild. Players are Link, a young boy with no memory of who he is as he awakens from a hundred-year
slumber to defeat Calamity Ganon before he destroys the land of Hyrule. The game includes an open
world to explore and interact with, allow the player to go about their quest to save the land however
they’d like. Explore to your heart’s content in this new Zelda game, available on Wii U and the Nintendo
Switch.
- From Nintendo comes the newest installment in the Zelda franchise, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the
- Dishonored 2
- Reprise your role as a supernatural assassin in Dishonored 2. Declared a “masterpiece” by Eurogamer and hailed “a must-play revenge tale” by Game Informer, Dishonored 2 is the follow up to Arkane’s 1st-person action blockbuster & winner of 100+ ‘Game of the Year’ awards, Dishonored.
