Local Sustainable Clothing and Life Chats

November 27, 2015 by meghanroach

Hey Golden Hawks, this morning we had myself, DJ Baby Roach and DJ Crump on The Morning Show!

We began with an interview with Ariel Alcorn, a WLU Alum, who opened her own Etsy shop operating out of KW called Little Elkhorn.  This shop re-purposes lightly loved clothing with the idea of contributing to sustainable fashion.  The store began as an idea in the spring of 2015 when she realized she had so many baggy shirts from being involved and found that they didn’t quite fit properly; just another bed time shirt.  By the end of summer she had the shop up and running, with the help from her friends as ‘role models’ (as she prefers to call them) showcasing her work making these shirts now one of a kind. They are frumpy yet fashionable and will give an edge to your style.12106932_693287070807067_2562955079466639913_n

We even got a little intel’ on the origin of the name.  Ariel’s family’s emblem  is actually a elk and the name is a play on her last name “Alcorn” and thus LittleElkhorn became her moniker .

You can check out her Instagram at @LittleElkhorn

Her Facebook Page can be found at Littlelkhorn

And finally her Etsy page is littleelkhorn where you can order online.

She will be in concourse with her closet of fantastic sustainable and fashionable clothing next Monday from 8:30- 4:30 PM, don’t miss out on your chance to own one of these original pieces!  Thank you so much to Ariel for coming in and chatting with us, once a golden hawk always a golden hawk.

Later in the show we also discussed on the show how to survive the holidays whether you get along with your family or not. Family seems to always be a hit or miss with some people so a few of our suggestions include: Netflix binging, Christmas markets, getting a head on school work, spend time with friends.

Today is also black Friday and we hope those whose braved the crowds got some wonderful deals and did not get trampled.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend! TGIF!
