How has the Earth Changed in your Lifetime?

March 11, 2015 by Carolyn Withrow

While scrolling through twitter this week I came across this really cool link from BBC earth, you put in your birthday, height and gender and it tells you lots of ways which the earth has changed since you were born, from how much the tectonic plates have moved in comparison to your height to how old you will be when we run out of coal and oil. We talked about how the earth has changed in the the last ~20 years and what that means. You can check out the link for yourself here: http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20141016-your-life-on-earth

We also covered updates on the Chinese documentary on smog that went viral and was then taken down and blocked by the Chinese government just last week. In other news a solar plane took off on Sunday planning to fly all the way around the world running only on solar power! Also in more local news Ontario is steps to ban microbeads (small plastic beads in soaps and body washes) that are polluting the great lakes. (but only if the proposed bill passes and even then it will be 2 years for it to be implemented). More info here: http://environmentaldefence.ca/blog/ontario-makes-move-ban-beads.

On next weeks show we will be taking a look at blood ivory and the trafficking of elephants.
