Everything You Didn’t Know That You Needed to Know About Waste

October 29, 2014 by Carolyn Withrow

Hello!

This week we talked all about waste and waste management. Mallaika and Shannon took a trip the the Waterloo Landfill site to see all of the facilities and give you the facts about waste. We featured music by the Barenaked Ladies, a Canadian band which focused on making their tours greener by teaming up with Reverb.

To check out some insane facts about waste in Canada go to:

http://www.gbresourcesgroup.com/2013/01/waste-reduction-and-recycling-facts/

There’s some mind boggling stuff in there like “1 edition of the Sunday New York Times consumes about 75,000 trees” or “North America has 8% of the world’s population, consumes 1/3 of the world’s resources and produces almost half of the world’s non-organic garbage.” So check it out if you needed a few more reasons to be greener.

Tune in next week where we will be debating the issue of overpopulation.
