In honour of Pride Month, the Office of the Associate Vice-President, Equity in Diversity and Inclusion and Radio Laurier present In Conversation: Pride, Research and Community. Laurier is proud to highlight some of the students and faculty members studying issues that affect 2SLGBTQ+, Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Plus, individuals and communities. Featured researchers share how their research, often in collaboration with community partners, works to challenge systems of oppression, address inequities and reduce barriers faced by 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Canada. In Conversation: Pride, Research and Community is a collaboration between the Office of the Associate Vice-President, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Radio Laurier.

Maryam Khan, Tin Vo, Michael Woodford, Charlie Davis, and Cameron McKenzie first discuss the relationship between their identities and lived experience, and how they carry out research with 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and communities. Researchers Eden Hennessey, Michael Woodford, Tin Vo, Maryam Khan, Cameron McKenzie, and Charlie Davis then highlight projects with 2SLGBTQ+ communities that have particularly resonated with them. Recognizing intersectionality and the multiple identities individuals hold, Maryam Khan, Todd Coleman, Charlie Davis, and Eden Hennessey share how identities can impact the varying experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ persons. Cameron McKenzie, Todd Coleman, Tin Vo, Charlie Davis, Maryam Khan, and Eden Hennessey then share their final thoughts with what they feel are some of the most hopeful changes they’ve seen for 2SLGBTQ+ communities and what they hope to see in the future

In Conversation: Pride, Research and Community is available in a variety of formats. For an alternate version of this discussion please contact Laurier’s Office of the Associate-Vice President, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion avpedi@wlu.ca.
