AFTER CLASS – THE WEEK-END: Volume 1, Session 6

March 25, 2018 by Mackenzie Snape

Hey Golden Hawks, its DJ Mack and DJ Sav, back for another session of The Week-end! We hope you all had a great St. Patrick’s Day and followed our safety tips, judging by the 619 charges laid many of you didn’t… but hey you cant relive a great party. This week we talked about our experiences with the craziness that was Ezra St. during St. Patties, DJ Sav finally experienced her first St. Patties in Waterloo!!! We also had an delish try of the week that you need to check out and our playlist was a selection of our newest favs. Enjoy!

The St. Patties Day aftermath

St. Patties on Ezra exceeded our expectations of alcohol induced craziness, this year’s festivities saw an estimated 22,400 people!!! That’s up from last years estimated 15,000. The police thought they could deflect the party goers but like every year we proved them wrong, way to go Hawks!! DJ Sav’s first Ezra experience was a success but wished she had been a little more drunk for the occasion… don’t we all. An interesting encounter for her was the amount of mud covered people that stumbled around the street and she had this piece of wisdom to offer future party goers, “don’t be a mud lady”. I didn’t know about the rivalry between Laurier and Queens’ St Patrick’s day parties but safe to say Laurier came out on top with the number of people estimating 22,400, Queens could only manage about 5,000 people, better luck next year Kingston.

Try of the Week

This weeks try was our best one yet! I was so excited to try MELTwich, Waterloo’s newest gourmet grilled cheese chain. I can’t say more good things about this place, the food? Amazing! The customer service? Exceptional! The vibes? Off the charts! Only thing to point fingers at was that I wish they had more of a seating selection. They also offer burgers, wraps, vegan options and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Booze and comfort food, could this place get any better?!?!! You need to check MELTwich out, it is located at 255 King St. N, beside the Wine Rack. This got a 9/10 from us and you will of course see us there again!!

Laurier Event

The event we are most excited about this week is the Daniel Caesar concert, put on by your WLU Student Union and A-Team. This is an all ages event with a 19+ area so bring your ID if your looking to drink. The event is this Wednesday March 28th at the Waterloo Campus’ Theatre Auditorium. If the tickets are sold out by the time your reading this check your local buy and sell pages for last minute deals, you won’t regret it!

The Music

This week’s playlist consisted of our newest favourites which was a selection of rap, hip-hop, and some pure good vibe songs! A little bit from Cardi B, 21Savage, Borgeous and more, check them out below!

Finale
