SpectruMusic Week 13 (Hardcore Punk)

March 7, 2018 by Lucas_GuLucas

Over reading week my dad kept harassing me to put a show around this theme and he’d help me with it. I quickly realized he just wanted to put together a show. So he sent me some tracks and I took a few great tracks from him, it is his favorite genre after all.

I’d like to announce that I will be going to the BadBadNotGood concert at Maxwell’s on March 28th!!! I am super excited to go. If you don’t know the group they’re a progressive jazz group who plays all sorts of catchy hip hop influenced tunes and put their spins on other tracks. Their cover of Joy Division’s Transmission and Disorder are amazing for example and I hope they play those. Be sure to check them out and I would love to see someone there!!!

Anyway we talked about beach house coming out with their new album, 7, very soon so I can’t wait to check that out as well as the new My Bloody Valentine EP which was described as “sprawling”, as well as another track by Kevin Shields and Brian Eno

We’ve also got Vince staples putting up a gofundme page saying to help pay for his retirement to get him to shut up, or they can get the heck off his genitals, although he was much more vulgar, check out the link at the bottom of the page

Furthermore, Robert Smith of the Cure is hosting a festival in London this year called meltdown which will feature tons of great bands such as MBV, Mogwai, Deftones and of course, a 30th anniversary of disintegration Cure reunion. This will be June 15th to 24th. Tons more bands too so go check out that lineup.

Finally, I’m sad as Johnny Greenwood did not get his Oscar for best soundtrack even though he deserved it.

Anyway, here’s the setlist

Pay to C** – Bad Brains

Nervous Breakdown – Black Flag

Screaming at a wall – Minor Threat

Institutionalized – Suicidal Tendencies

World Up My A** – Circle Jerks

Viet Nam – Adolescents

Beyond The Threshold – Husker Du

Knowledge – Operation Ivy

Hurricanerock – Guitar Wolf

True Love Part 1 – X

The Lie – The Gun Club

Blast Damage Days – Jeff Rosenstock

The Shape of Punk to Come – Refused

I’m Not a Loser – Descendants

The Number One – Poison Idea

Live and Live – Death Side

Sonic Reducer – Dead boys

Frustration – The Restarts

Civilization’s Dying – Zero Boys
