After Class – The Jam ep. 4

October 5, 2017 by Zakayle Stowe

What’s up golden hawks? Dj Mola and I hope you’re all staying stress free and studying hard this week.

This week on The Jam, we decided to create a mellowed out playlist, considering it’s midterm szn. We started out our playlist with a tribute to the late Tom Petty, playing his well known song, “Free Fallin”. We also mentioned that his band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. Here’s their induction ceremony:

Then, we went right into the playlist, playing both new and old artists, as well as some artists we’ve featured in previous episodes. The playlist (which you can find at the bottom of this post) includes songs from K-OS, Fugees, and some of our favorites such as Arcade Fire and A Tribe Called Quest.

Dj Mola and I decided that we’d go head to head in a little game of trivia, where we guessed random questions made up on the spot. In the end, I took a major L, but it’s cool…I’ll get her back next week, maybe.

This week on Jam of the Week, we featured artist SZA, including some of her older work from her EP, Z. The song we decided to play was called HiiiJack, which contains a sort of mellow high vibe. SZA’s voice in this song is able to put the listener in a sort of trance, we agreed. Below is a soundcloud link to the great song.

We hope all of our listeners enjoy the rest of this hardworking week, and we also hope you guys enjoy your reading week! We’ll be back on schedule Tuesday, October 17th. Until then, we’ll talk to you later!

Playlist:

Free Fallin – Tom Petty

Ready Or Not – Fugees

Sativa – Jhene Aiko ft. Swae Lee

Lovely Day – Bill Withers

Sunday Morning – K-OS

Valerie – Amy Winehouse

Green Aisles – Real Estate

Breezeblocks – alt-j

Golden – My Morning Jacket

Ready To Start – Arcade Fire

Bonita Applebom – A Tribe Called Quest

end.
