“All That Jas Live” November 3rd Show

“All That Jas Live” November 3rd Show

Hey “All That Jas Live” listeners!
Jasmine and I are SUPER excited to hit you with another one of wonderful blog updates! On this blog we want to recap with you all of the fab gossip we talked about on November 3rd’s show and let you in on anything you may have missed! Below are all the hit songs we played throughout it!

1. Justice Crew- “Rise and Fall”
2. Hiltop Hoods- “Cosby Sweater”
3. Ed Sheeran- “Thinking Out Loud”
4. Marlisa- “Stand By You”
5. Drake- “How About Now”
6. Sam Smith- “I’m Not The Only One”
7. One Direction- “Steal My Girl”

On November 3rd’s show Jasmine and I talked everything from Iggy Azalea’s hilarious halloween costume to overnight teenage twitter sensation #AlexFromTarget! Jasmine and I are loving these overnight celebs that keep showing up on our twitter feeds so being able to talk about new beau Alex from Target made us extra happy! First, lets stop and talk about how this random boy who was working this minimum wage job that probably paid for his newest xbox….ENDED UP ON THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW! Seriously….how lucky is this boy! I think everyone who knows me knows how much I love Ellen, so when I saw that he was on the show I died! Be sure to check out the link below to watch him on Ellen and see girls go CRAY CRAY for him!
How do you feel about #AlexFromTarget? Tweet us at @AllThatJasLive and let us know and we’ll be sure to give you a shoutout and a follow back on next weeks show!

We also talked about the fab Lupita Nyong’o and her being named Glamour Magazine’s “Woman of The Year”! WOOHOO! Jasmine and I love her so when we found out that she was named the woman of the year, we were SO happy!! Even though we loved all of the other’s who were nominated such as Mindy Kaling from “The Office” and her new show “The Mindy Project”, Laverne Cox from “Orange is The New Black” (MY FAV SHOW) and Chelsea Clinton, who we all know as Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter! Check out Lupita on the cover of Glamour Magazine down below and let us know what you think of it at @AllThatJasLive!

And last but not least, Jasmine can’t go through a show without talking about her girl Iggy Azalea. This week we talked about her halloween costume (which we loved) as her and her friend went as the two twins, Brittany and Tiffany Wilson from White Chicks! How hilarious is that!! But it gets even funnier….they didn’t go as the actual twins from the movie, they decided to go as the “undercover” version of the twins played by the Wayans’ brothers! Everyone says that she looks like the undercover version of the girls so she decided to go along with the joke! YES IGGY! We love you and totally don’t think you look like the twins at all, you’re gorg!

Well that’s all for this blog folks, thanks so much for checking it out and be sure to do it again next week! xo

All That Jas Live Catch Up!

All That Jas Live Catch Up!

Hey All That Jas Live listeners! Jackie and I are so excited to hit with you another great blog update! On this post we want to recap all the juicy gossip and fun things talked about on September 22nd and 29th show! We want to thank our loyal and dedicated listeners for baring with us during our September 22nd show while we experienced a few technical difficulties! Though our show was cut short, we appreciate you for tuning in despite! Below you will find a track listing of all the hot music played on each show!

  1. Becky G- “Shower”
  2. Sia Ft. The Weeknd & Diplo- “Elastic Heart”
  3. Tinashe & Schoolboy Q- “2On Remix”
  4. Tove Lo- “Habits”
  5. Calvin Harris- “Blame”
  6. Magic- “Rude”
  7. Lorde- “Tennis Court”
  8. Jennifer Lopez & Iggy Azalea- “Booty”
  9. Ed Sheeran “Dont”
  10. Jay Z & Beyonce- “Forever Young”

On September 22nd’s show we discussed everything from rumours circulating about pop sensation Ariana Grande’s diva attitude! We also discussed whether or not we thought her infamous hair was real or fake, and whether or not it was hiding some sort of rare hair disease! Let us know what you think of this theory, or if you have some input you would like to share by tweeting us! @AllThatJasLive and we will be happy  to give you a shoutout and a follow back live on next weeks show!

Jackie and I discussed everything from Paris fashion week!– And of course all the drama that comes with it. This always includes the Kardashians… right? Kim K’s famous younger sister Kendall can officially be considered a world class model, walking in shows such as Balmain, Dolce & Gabanna and Chanel… just to name a few. However, while this is great for the already famous 18 year old… a lot of up and coming models are lead to believe Kendall, who is relatively new to the fashion world, is only booking major gigs due to her much more famous older sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian. Kendall has said she wants to distance herself as much as possible from her older sisters in order to make a name for herself during go-sees and fashion shows. What do YOU guys think? We think regardless of her last name and fame, long legs and a beautiful face like Kendall’s doesn’t come around all the time! She may actually deserve her place on the runway, and I won’t be surprised if we see little miss Jenner strutting herself down the Victorias Secret runway with the likes of Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosia.

Next we talked about Emma Watson’s feminist speech that went VIRAL. After Jasmine and I watched it we fell even more in love with her (which is impossible because we’re totally obsessed with her as it is)! She’s not only an actress and model for Burberry, she is also a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. In her 13 minute long speech, she talks about her new movement “HeForShe” which is a movement for gender equality. Jasmine and I have taken many women studies classes in our previous years, and we totally agree with her 100%. We think that she is the perfect person to represent this movement because she isn’t like the rest of the hollywood actresses, she’s actually normal and down to earth. Her being famous allows the message to be conveyed easier as she can use her status of fame to reach out to all her Harry Potter fans and many more around the world. 100 POINTS FOR GRYFFINDOR!!!!!

Find the link below to watch her historical UN speech!

On September 29ths show, Jasmine and I talked about a lot of important things including Robert Pattinson, Snooki and her baby girl, and the heartbreaking breakup between Amber Rose & Wiz Khalifa. But the most important part of the show revolved around silver fox George Clooney and his new bae.

SORRY LADIES! Worlds most eligible bachelor, George Clooney is officially off the market! It’s true, he married Amal Alamuddin, a lebanese lawyer, activist and author (woah… her resume is stacked) on September 27th in beautiful Venice, Italy. But we can’t even stay mad, they make a GORGEOUS couple! Let us know what you think of her custom made Oscar De La Renta wedding dress. We think she looks like a sultry victorian bride! Tweet us at @AllThatJasLive to let Jasmine and I know!

“All That Jas Live” Returns For Final Year … Don’t Call it a ‘Come Back’ Ya’ll

“All That Jas Live” Returns For Final Year … Don’t Call it a ‘Come Back’ Ya’ll

Welcome back “All That Jas Live” Listeners! Jackie and I are so excited to be coming at you from the Radio Laurier headquarters here in Waterloo, Ontario for one last year! We plan to go out with a BANG this year, and hope you’ll be there tuning in week after week!

This past Monday (September 8th) Jackie and I gave you and explosive show covering everything from some of YOUR summer faves, to some of the biggest and most newsworthy news in popular culture, of course– in true Jasmine & Jackie form we gave you the good, the bad and the ugly. From babies, weddings, concerts to death this show covered EVERYTHING and we are terribly sorry if you had to miss it due to like, … responsibilities. Ew.

Below is the full track listing of the AMAZE music we played on Mondays show!

  1. Black Widow- Rita Ora Ft. Iggy Azalea (Pristina, Sydney Australia)
  2. Am I Wong- Nico & Vinz (Ivory Coast, Ghana)
  3. Reload- Sebastion Ingrosso (Stockholm, Sweden)
  4. Wont Look Back- Duke Dumont (Rayners Lane, United Kingdom)
  5. Often Kygo Remix- The Weeknd (Toronto, Ontario)
  6. Boom Clap- Charli XCX (Stevenage, United Kingdom)
  7. Rather Be- Clean Bandit (Cambridge, England)
  8. 0 To 100- Drake (Toronto, Ontario)
  9. Ugly Heart- G.R.L (United Kingdom, USA, Canada)
  10. Recognize- Party Next Door (Toronto, Ontario)

Besides all the AMAZING music you we’re sure to be rocking out to this summer, there was also LOTS to be discussed in terms of popular culture news that dominated the media! From the epic Brangelina wedding to Kimye’s drama filled Italian extravaganza, and lets not forget Neil Patrick Harris’ history making wedding to long time partner David Burtka, All That Jas Live Covered all of your favourite stories from this summers wedding festivities!

Where there is weddings, celebrity babies do not come far behind! The Royal family Kate and Will are expecting baby number 2! “Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child,” Clarence House said in a statement Monday. “The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.” Lets not forget America’s Royal Family… The Kardashians! If you haven’t heard.. or seen, older sib Kourtney is expecting baby #3 with not so thrilled baby daddy ‘Lord’ Scott Disick! Congrats to both expecting couples!

Where there is joy in marriage and babies… comes sorrow in loss and death. This summer fans tragically lost many of Hollywoods best and brightest legends including Robin Williams (63) and Joan Rivers (81). “All That Jas Live” covered both tragic stories and asked for the opinions of YOU our listeners to weigh in on both occurrences. What was your favourite Robin Williams film? And were you or weren’t you a Joan Rivers fan. We ask that you please show respect for those mourning the loss of both respected individuals if you so choose to share your thoughts!

Joan Rivers Visit's "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo" - March 29, 2011

We couldn’t leave the show on a totally upsetting note, so we had to bring it back to some of summers most me memorable highlights! Thats right, ‘All That Jas Live’ covered everything from your favourite summer concerts and festivals including Boots & Hearts, Veld, Digital Dreams and of course, OVO!

Whether wearing fairy wings, fur trimmed boots and highlighter underwear worn as outwear, muddy cowboy boots, or a backwards snap back is your thing, Ontario surely offered you a weekend summer music festival that fit your every music desire! While some enjoyed EDM festivals featuring Avicii, Ingrosso and Zedd, other concert goers had the opportunity to see some of their favourite country artists including Luke Bryan and Toby Keith (…who?), and lastly many enjoyed a more urban scene featuring fan faves like Drake, Usher, 50 Cent and Trey Songz! Each festival catered to its audiences brilliantly, but as mama always said, “It’s all fun and games until someone pokes their eye out”… ok well no one literally poked their eyes out. We hope? But unfortunately millennial’s seem to have a hard time having fun without experimenting with everything but the kitchen sink and experienced some not so fun side effects due to casual party drugs like ‘Molly’ and ‘Ecstasy’. Unfortunately, ‘Veld’ has a reputation for a place where young people go to not only enjoy music, but to experiment with drugs. Due to this, this years ‘Veld’ festivities encountered 2 deaths and over 15 injuries due to the use of ‘party drugs’. Both Jackie and myself take this seriously, and want our listeners to as well. If you have anything to say or want to weigh in on this serious topic please tweet us @ALLTHATJASLIVE and we will be sure to give you a shout out and a follow back on next weeks show!

‘Veld’ is not the only music festival with a negative story amongst all the positives. One ‘Boots and Heart’s Music Festival’ concert goer had an awful experience, and taking legal action to ensure it does not happen again to herself or anyone in the future. 27 year old Rachelle Alexander is filing a ‘Human Rights Complaint’ against the festival claiming to have experienced racial remarks and felt she was “being harassed” and told she wasn’t wanted at the festival. Alexander also is claiming to have seen Confederate flags during the 4  day music festival in Bowmanville, Ontario. We sincerely hope these claims are untrue, and if they are they are dealt with accordingly. To read more on this upsetting story head to the link below: http://www.durhamregion.com/news-story/4800118-woman-files-racism-complaint-after-clarington-boots-and-hearts-concert/

Finally Jackie and I want to thank Radio Laurier for the beginning of another great year with the team! We look forward to giving you, our listeners, a great show consistently week after week! Tune in next week for another great show!

“All That Jas Live” January 12th Show

Happy New Year All That Jas Live listeners!

It is 2014, and this is the first show of the brand new year! On Sunday evenings show we discussed everything from our fave jams from 2013 from around the globe— In true All That Jas fashion (according to billboard.com and Rolling Stones Magazine), as well as this we also discussed everything Golden Globes! Below you can find a full track listing of all the music played during Sunday’s live show!

  1. DISCLOSURE- “White Noise” (Surrey, UK.)
  2. AVICCI- “Wake Me Up” (Stockholm, Sweden)
  3. DRAKE- “Hold On We’re Going Home” (Toronto, Canada)
  4. DAFT PUNK FT. PHARRELL WILLIAMS- “Get Lucky” (Paris, France)
  5. LORDE- “Royals” (Devonport, New Zealand)
  6. BEYONCE- “XO” (Houston, USA)
  7. YLVES- “What Does The Fox Say?” (Bergen, Norway)
  8. KANYE WEST- “Bound 2” (Chicago, USA)
  9. MILEY CYRUS- “Wrecking Ball” (TENNESSEE, USA)
  10. DRAKE- “Started From The Bottom” (Toronto, Canada)

As well as discussing the biggest hits in music from around the world, we also discussed the some of the biggest moments in the media during 2013! This included the huge success of Queen B’s surprised album that took the music industry by storm, “Beyonce”. The self entitled hit album includes superstar rapper hubby Jay-Z, Canadian fave Drake in the single “Mine”, the album also features Bey and Jay’s now 2 year old toddler, Blue Ivy Carter who gets her own feature mention in the beautiful song named after the royal offspring herself “Blue”, just to name a few. If you haven’t had the chance to listen (or watch) the brand new album complete with 14 songs, and 17 videos, do yourself a favour and pick it up TODAY!

2013 continued to prove to be a crazy year in the media. Arguably one of Hollywoods most hated couples, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West undoubtedly dominated the headlines and tabloids week after week. With the birth of the powerful couples first child, North West, Kanye’s many unpleasant run-in’s with pesky photogs, Ye’s groundbreaking and arguably best must see tour of the year “Yeezus” and finally the infamous couples no hold bars engagement, it is safe to say, Kimye is here to stay… like it or not. (At least for the next 72 days).

Lastly, what would 2013 be without the crazy antics, twerking, giant teddy bears and a wacky buzz cut be without Hollywoods favourite disney starlet gone bad girl, Miley Cyrus? Love her or hate her, miss Miley Cyrus dominated the tabloids week after week, and has been continuing to do so in 2014. From her not so shocking split from fiancee Liam Hemsworth, the drop of her #1 album “Bangerz”, 2014 was Miley’s year to twerk whenever and wherever she pleased.

Sunday night was the big Golden Globe awards and All That Jas Live was there to document all the best fashion from the big evening. We counted down my top 3 fave looks of the evening.

1. Emma Watson (Christian Dior)

2. Margot Robbie, The Wolf of Wallstreet (Gucci)

3. Olivia Wilde, She (Gucci)

And as a bonus, another one of my favourite’s at Sunday’s show was newcomer Lupita Nyong’o from 12 Years a Slave in a stunning red Ralph Lauren cape dress.

Thank you to everyone who tuned in, same place and time this upcoming Sunday!

Jasmine, xo.

Shows/The Morning Show

Friday Before Black Friday

Today is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, in rememberance, The Daily News reprinted their November 23rd, 1963 issue in it’s entirety with many interesting advertisements. For example, homes in the New York boroughs sold for as low $15,000. http://www.complexmag.ca/art-design/2013/11/daily-news-cover-jfk-assasination-50th-anniversary

On today’s show I gave my thoughts on the new movie 12 Years a Slave. Definitely one of my favourites this year; the movie was shot beautifully and director Steve McQueen really forced the audience to face the horrors of slavery. This led to a tangent on present day slavery such as the three women held captive in Lambath, South London for more than 30 years.

“All That Jas Live” October 20th Show

“All That Jas Live” October 20th Show

Hey ‘All That Jas’ listeners both new and old! This Sunday we had a very special show! We interviewed Much Music’s own singer/songwriter Stefanie Maqz AND played her brand new single Beautiful Disaster ! It was a great show with lots of fun international music that included fan fave Lorde, Tame Impala and of course The Weeknd! Below you can find a full track listing of all the music played on last nights amazing show!

  1. JESSICA MAUBOY- “Pop A Bottle (Fill Me Up)” (Darwin, Australia)
  2. THE WEEKND- “Live For Ft. Drake” (Toronto, Canada)
  3. TAME IMPALA- “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” (Perth, Australia)
  4. STEFANIE MAQZ- “Beautiful Disaster” (Toronto, Canada)
  5. LORDE- “The Love Club” (Devonport, New Zealand)
  6. ICONA POP- “All Night” (Stockholm, Sweden)
  7. ZEDD- “Stay The Night Ft. Haley Williams” (Moscow, Russia)
  8. TINIE TEMPAH- “Trampoline Ft. 2 Chainz” (London, England)
  9. PATRICE ROBERTS- “A Little Wine” (Trinidad & Tobago)
  10. JAMIROQUAI- “7 Days In Sunny June” (London, England)
  11. THE NEIGHBORHOOD- “Sweater Weather” (USA)

As I mentioned above, this week was a very special episode of “All That Jas Live” because we sat down with Much Music’s Stefanie Maqz to talk about her music journey and her involvement with major television production company MUCH MUSIC! Here’s some highlights from her interview:

JA: Can you tell the listeners a bit about yourself and your music?

SM: Sure! I’m 21, I go to York University and I am currently studying Film and Media but I do music on the side. I started when I was really small and have been working my way up to writing songs and playing them on my guitar!

JA: Can you tell my listeners a bit about your plans for the future. A lot of my listeners are University students like yourself and we’re all just thinking about the future and what’s to come for us in our lives. So how did you get so involved in the music industry and what is next for you?

SM: It started out with musical theatre when I was younger and then I began writing my own songs and playing the guitar. After that I began playing shows around Toronto with friends that are also involved in the music industry. I’ve really tried to put myself out there and get my stuff noticed. Hopefully something will fall into place eventually!

JA: As an artist you have to have someone who inspires you as a musician. Who is someone that inspires you?

SM: That one is so hard. I like every kind of music. To me, it’s any artist that writes there own music. I really look up to that. I like the oldies too, Stevie Wonder, James Morrison that kind of stuff.

JA: Can you tell my listeners about your involvement with MUCH MUSIC and how you got involved with that, and what you do on a day to day basis there?

SM: Well i’m taking film and media in school so I know that is what I want to go into career wise. I landed an interview with Much Music in June and ended getting hired as an intern for them during the summer. I met you, and helped producers with whatever they needed, I got to attend sound checks, attend different shows. It was amazing.

JA: What advice do you have for my listeners who perhaps want to land an internship like that for next summer?

SM: Every opportunity is out there. Take them all. I wanted that internship so bad and it went from a 2 month internship to a 6 month internship!

JA: How and where can my listeners hear more of your music?

SM: You can check out both my Sound Cloud (soundcloud.com/stefaniemaqz) and YouTube page (youtube.com/stefaniemaqz) I put up covers, my original songs and I update often!

JA: I know you’re heavily involved in a music show coming up in Toronto, can you tell my listeners about that?

SM: Not a lot is released about that quite yet but, but it is on November 29th in Toronto at a place called “Kitsch” for an event called “Imagine” and its almost like an art showcase where i’ll also be performing.

For more information on STEFANIE MAQZ check out her Twitter @StefanieMaqz to follow all of her music updates!

To see Stefanie live check her out in Toronto on November 29th at Kitsch! And remember to download her brand new single “BEAUTIFUL DISASTER” available on soundcloud.com/stefaniemaqz
