We kicked off this week’s edition of The Morning After with one major question:
How the hell is it almost March?
The winter semester is over halfway done and DJ Steffy Wap and DJ Champagne Tiny can barely believe that their time at Laurier is almost finished. Music and inside jokes have been a major foundation for our friendship and over the past 4 years we have many songs that we associate with amazing memories and hilarious stories.
This week we played music that we jammed out during our first year in 2014. We even shared some of the stories on air, with Sugar by Maroon 5 being our very first, and one of our most notable Steffy Wap and Champagne Tiny stories.
Water, Water Everywhere….
Over the past reading week Laurier’s Brantford campus was affected by flooding in various parts. A significant amount of the student population was affected by this flood. This takes us back to first year when there was a flood in Spruce St. Residence, and Champagne Tiny had to move to King’s Court for a week! It was a wonderful yet stressful experience. It was a blessing in disguise because during that week we met some amazing people and made a lot of new friends!

Straight Outta Reading Week
Champagne Tiny made it out to Toronto this reading week to her first ever Auto Show and fell in love with way too many cars. Safe to say that she is going to have to save up a lot of $$ to buy at least two of the cars she liked.
Steffy Wap took a trip to Niagara Falls for the long weekend and attempted to play the slots. Although she only won 88 cents, she still had a blast. Her favourite place she visited in Niagara had to be Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville where she unquestionably tasted the world’s greatest frozen strawberry margarita.
Hawk and Roll
This week we were fortunate to have Residence Education Advisor, Lauren Keating drop by the studio for an interview. Not only is Lauren an REA, but she also happens to be our Morning Show & After Class Manager as well as a near and dear friend to both Steffy Wap and Champagne Tiny.
This Friday is the start of one of Residence Life’s biggest events: Hawk Weekend. Hawk Weekend is friendly residence vs residence competition that will take place this weekend, March 3rd-5th! The rules a simple: residence teams will compete in a variety of games and activities to earn Spirit Points and the building with the most Spirit Points wins the Hawk Weekend Cup! The purpose of the weekend is to provide a fun and safe environment for first year students to get involved and meet others in their building. This year, Hawk Weekend is race car themed!

We asked Lauren if she had any predictions for the upcoming weekend. In Steffy Wap and Champagne Tiny’s first year WCH took home the W, but in the past two years Little House has gone 2/2 even after it switched to co-ed. Lauren was very confident and told us that the Hawk Weekend Cup was definitely going to go to one the two residence communities she oversees: ELMAC or Little House.
It will definitely be a battle to bring home the cup and we can’t wait to report next show which residence came out victorious!
Until next week! Stay Golden
