Just like your classic morning show, it consists of fun segments, exciting interviews, popular music, and much more. After Class shows are an opportunity to tastefully discuss mature and provocative topics. The Morning and After Class members will work closely with the manager to create a consistent structure among the shows while maintaining creative freedom for individual DJ’s. Each show is geared towards the Laurier campus and community and provides a wide variety of content. Hosts are expected to make a commitment of 3-6 hours a week, which consists of a weekly team meeting, preparation, and broadcasting. DJ’s are also expected to attend all general station meetings and, when able, attend Radio Laurier events.
General DJ: General DJ’s work individually to produce weekly broadcasts. They have the creative freedom to design their show content, structuring their content around any area of interest. This is a great opportunity for you to turn your ideas and personal interests into high-quality on-air content that can be later used to bolster your portfolio. (APPLICATION EXAMPLE)
Radio Laurier Program Application:
Show Name: The Breakout Hour
DJ/Host names: Steven Stephens & Kent Lastname
Preferred Time Period: Tuesdays 7:00pm – 8:00pm (1 hour slot)
Concept of Show:
The idea of this show is to focus on national sports league news. I will be covering all major sports both male and female. I will be providing weekly news updates, trade rumors, injury reports, notable highlights, and personal opinion on some major topics within the sport at the time.
How will you make sure the content is consistent each week?
There is always new sporting news to report from around the world, but if it is a slower week than normal I will make sure I do enough research to produce the same quality of content regardless.
Why would your proposed program be a good fit for Radio Laurier?
I think sports is one of the easiest things to relate over, and always interesting to talk about because everyone has a different opinion. There currently isn’t a sports show and I think this could fill a necessary gap.
Why would you or your co-hosts be a good fit for Radio Laurier?
My roommate and I have been friends for many years and we have a natural chemistry and energy that just can’t be taught. We’re very passionate but we also keep an open mind.
