#TheFirstOne- sorta

January 17, 2018 by Asad Raza

Hello beautiful people! Welcome to 2018- I realize I am technically a week late…or am I? See, I was all set to go for the show last week but unfortunately due to some technical difficulties I wasn’t able to carry out the entire show as planned. That said, today’s show was an absolute delight and everything went okay, fingers crossed it stays this way! In terms of the weather, it’s been so back and forth that it’s hard to give an update. That said, I can summarize it by saying the following- we’ve seen -35C, 10cm of snow, and +11C with rain ALL in the last week and a half. Wow #CanadianWeather eh?

Irrespective of the weather, the show though, was red hot with some amazing throwbacks and some seriously great current music was played. From Michael Jackson, to Vanilla Ice, to B.O.B., to Sean Paul, to Flo Rida, the throwbacks were thrown SO far back. We did discuss The Billboard Top 100 and how the Top 10 has changed from the beginning of last term to now. Cardi B and with her song Bodak Yellow was the only one to still be in the Top 10 now that was also in the Top 10 back in early September. That said, it was also extremely impressive that the very melodious Havana by Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug is still #2 after having come out in September of last year- that’s 5 months! Even then, it took a very perfectly named Perfect by Ed Sheeran to push it down to 2nd place.

So in terms of logistics, I also talked a little about how the shows this year will go: a little different than today, I explained why during the show as well and I’ll do it again. So just because of the fact that it was technically the first show of the year back I did want to start back up again with mostly music, and I did also throw a Laurier event in there but from next week onwards I’ll go back to my regular segments that’ll break up the show a little and provide for a bit of a breather and give me a chance to connect again to the student community here at Laurier. If you guys have any suggestions for segments or anything as well, do throw em my way!

That said, that was about it for the show this week- a smoother transition back into things- I did mention the WLU Harry Potter Alliance and their Yule Ball event happening this Friday at 9pm in the Turret as my Laurier event. I’ve never been before but I will be there this year so if you want to meet me and enjoy great music, challenges, and awesome prizes, do come out. More details can be found on the event Facebook page!

So thank you all beautiful people for tuning in again, y’all rock, keep the support going! I’ll see you next Wednesday for a great full show that I’ve already got some great ideas for. Take care, DJ Throwback out.
