Hello all!
We’re finally back to school- back to the beginning was a good way to summarize the show as there was a lot done, that one can summarize as being back to the basics. DJ Raaz didn’t have the greatest time back initially, with technical difficulties taking up a bit of time but he went back to the basics and figured things out to get the show underway.
The show started off with a brief comparison- first we talked about The Billboard Hot 100 charts and how they have changed over the last 5 months and 8 days. With DJ Raaz’s last show on April the 5th, it was fun to see how many more songs came and went in this period (including Despacito absolutely annihilating all possible competition to become the song of the summer).
Once that was done, we got through some seriously amazing throwbacks- with songs from the 1990s and early 2000s it was a huge reality check realizing that some songs were over 12 and 15 years old (talk about feeling old). Some hilarious spotted at Laurier tweets were discussed and read (still patiently hoping and praying to get spotted by someone complimenting me), with the constant theme being students not liking how hot it can get in classrooms- well that shouldn’t be much of a worry as the weather cools down *sob*.
YouTube views were next on the to-do list, and my god have the top watched YouTube videos changed completely or what. With “Gangnam Style” leading the pack back in April, it was now down to #3 with Despacito continuing its magnificent form, with over 3.6 BILLION views now in absolutely no time- well done, fellas. Some cool campus events were then talked about- the Career Centre and its packed schedule, in particular. The kinds of events happening every single day is absolutely amazing, and to think and know about the companies that come in with the sole intention of hiring particularly Laurier students, I mean that’s a good feeling! I had the opportunity to go to a couple myself and was in awe at how well recognized we are and how much employers respect our university and its top notch programs.
Once that was done, we got on with things by playing relatively more current music, quite a bit of the top 10 currently, including Taylor Swift’s “Look what you made me do” that ended Despacito’s historic and almost-record-breaking 16-week run at #1. It should be a great year, and DJ Raaz is absolutely thrilled for the shows to come.

Hope to see you all tune in again,
