Welcome back to Press Start to BGN, this week on the show we talked about memorable bosses we faced in games. If you are a first time listener/reader Press Start to BGN is Laurier’s gaming show by a bunch of Game Design & Development students here at Laurier’s Brantford campus. The program is very new and so is our show, so for those who don’t know Game Design & Development is headed by Dr Scott Nicholson through the Brantford Games Network or BGN, hence the name “Press Start to BGN” which sounds like “begin.” Thanks for tuning in!


  • Brigitte’s , the newest hero to Overwatch, first legendary Engineer skin is hitting the PTR.
  • A Way to the Woods creator has secured a publishing deal and the announcement trailer has been released.

  • Blizzard is celebrating StarCraft’s 20th anniversary with free giveaways in all their active games.
  • There is a new warning from the ESRB it’s a little tough to explain relatively short so here is the link
  • Bethesda Softworks’ annual pre-E3 2018 showcase, BE3, will take place on Sunday, June 10, at 6:30 p.m. PT, the publisher announced today. This will be Bethesda’s fourth dedicated E3 event.
  • Rainbow Six Siege is making changes to the systems in place to ban those using racist and homophobic language, as well as other hate speech, in game.
  • Fortnite Dev is banning players who team up in solo matches. The teaming up put the people who were actually playing solo as the mode intended at a clear disadvantage.
  • Some Nintendo Switch owners’ playtime activity was displaying incorrectly, showing that no playtime was established. It’s funny, yes but have no fear all your playtime is still there it’s just not being displayed.
  • Chucklefish, the publisher behind Stardew Valley, has revealed more details about it’s upcoming game Spellbound. CEO of Chucklefish Finn Brice revealed more about the concept in an interview with Red Bull last week, where he described Spellbound as a “wizard-school sim” inspired by a host of popular fantasy series. There’s a bit of Harry Potter in there, but also Garth Nix’s Old Kingdom series, Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching series, and Studio Ghibli’s animated films, with a dash of Steven Universe.
  • Iron Galaxy, the studio that ported Skyrim onto Nintendo Switch, wants to turn its hand to a tougher challenge – Monster Hunter: World.
  • Everything the U.S. Government has said about Video Games since the Florida Shooting.

  • Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition
    • Take the journey, now in ultimate quality. Boasting a wealth of bonus content and supporting ultra high-resolution graphical options and HDR 10, you can now enjoy the beautiful and carefully-crafted experience of FINAL FANTASY XV like never before.
  • Frantics
    • Frantics is all about 15 whacky mini-games for up to four players, where you’re competing in everything from frenetic action arena brawls to strategic turn based competitions.
  • Midnight Deluxe
    • In this golf-like game with a perpetual darkness setting, your task is to guide a little square-shaped fairy, named Midnight.Use your controller or touch-screen controls, to launch Midnight into the night sky, but watch out! The world of Midnight is a dangerous one thanks to the likes of spikes, circular saws and plenty of other dangerous objects and even if you do manage to get Midnight into the safe zone, to advance to the next level, there’s the added challenge of trying to complete each level in the least amount of shots as possible to get all three Stars.
  • Way of the Passive Fist
    • Way of the Passive Fist is a unique and colorful arcade brawler. Parry, Dodge and Dash to outwit and outlast your enemies on a desolate planet ruled by raiders, mutants and fanatical sun worshipers. It’s a new kind of tactical fighting in the licensed arcade brawler for the 90s cartoon you wish existed.

  • Monster Hunter World
    • Battle gigantic monsters in epic locales.As a hunter, you’ll take on quests to hunt monsters in a variety of habitats.
      Take down these monsters and receive materials that you can use to create stronger weapons and armor in order to hunt even more dangerous monsters. In Monster Hunter: World, the latest installment in the series, you can enjoy the ultimate hunting experience, using everything at your disposal to hunt monsters in a new world teeming with surprises and excitement.


  • Dungeons and Dragons
    • Dungeons & Dragons is a structured yet open-ended role-playing game. It is normally played indoors with the participants seated around a tabletop.


  • Overcooked
    • Overcooked is a chaotic couch co-op cooking game for one to four players. Working as a team, you and your fellow chefs must prepare, cook and serve up a variety of tasty orders before the baying customers storm out in a huff.
  • Skyrim
    • The Empire of Tamriel is on the edge. The High King of Skyrim has been murdered. Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel.
