Boldly Going Where No Grilled Cheese Has Gone Before!

Hello Goldenhawks!

United for the first time in many months, Skandy and myself did our very best to fit all we had planned within the three hours! Between announcing Laurier events and keeping you tuned in with the weather, we had a few nice long chats about a number of things…

In today’s, ‘Do You Care?’, we chatted about Vassilis Paleokostas! This modern day Greek Robin Hood robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. But that’s not enough to make this story amazing. In light of the recent prison helicopter escape in Quebec, Vassilis escaped from a high security prison facility with help of a helicopter… twice… on two different occasions. Better yet, he still remains at large in Greece! Safe to say, those in charge of the prison were quickly relieved of their duties. Skandy most definitely cared about this story. For more on Vassilis Paleokostas, click here.

Under the same segment, we also discussed Nils Olav. Sir Nils Olav, Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian Royal Guard, was knighted by King Harald V in 2008 in a ceremony that consisted of 130 guardsmen and much fanfare. What’s also interesting to note is he is also the mascot of the Norwegian Royal Guard… yeah. The most important feature of Sir Nils Olav is that he is in fact a King Penguin living in the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland. To read more about the world’s most celebrated bird, click here. Also, to enjoy some footage of him and his knighthood, check out this video.

Skandy and I also spend a great deal of time going over Buzzfeed’s 40 Amazing Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipes! Try going through this list of creative and fun grilled cheese sandwiches and not getting hungry; simply impossible. While on one hand the  sauerkraut grilled cheese looked a bit risky, Skandy and I both agreed that goat cheese is perhaps our favorite cheese for this delicacy, while rye bread is our favorite bread. We did all this discussion with some lovely classical music in the background to help shake things up a little.

Needless to say, the two of us had a wonderful time! Today also marks two weeks left until our last show of the term! Be sure to tune in Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM to soak in all the Morning Show you can before exam season rolls in!

Hello Reading Week!

Happy Friday Golden Hawks!

Your ever reliable Skandy here, blogging today’s exploits on The Morning Show. Today there was a first on The Morning Show when DJ Kpop made her first ever appearance on the show. We chatted about reading week plans, farms, family and the recent meteorite catastrophe in Russia. Fortunately the rest of the show had lighter subject matter as CP and I talked about the importance packing properly and leaving room for improvisation on vacations. Lastly during Laurier Happenings we promoted the upcoming WLUSP and A-Team event: Laurier Idol. Voting on wlusu.ca will remain open until February 24th, the top 8 entries will be announce the following day, and the live finale in the concourse will take place on February 27th.

Thank you all for tuning in. The Morning Show will return after reading week on February 25th. Have a positively splendid vacation listeners.

Pope Benedict XVI is Retiring! First Pope in 600 To Do So!

Sorry for the massive delay. Had some technical difficulties with the blog today.

Welcome to Monday Golden Hawks! Skandy blogging your synopsis for today’s episode of The Morning Show. Lots of things went down today. In the How To segment Oracle and myself listed off How to say (and pronounce) I Love You in 10 different languages, including elvish. Later in the show I learned some new evidence that helps clear up the answer to How the Dinosaurs Died, courtesy of escapistmagazine.com. Last and certainly not least I learned and helped announce to the world that Pope Benedict XVI will resign as the leader of the Catholic Church as of Febuary, 28th 2013. He will be the first pope to resign in 600 years.

Thank you all for tuning in and enjoy this last week of The Morning Show before reading week from 9 am – Noon.

Sincerely,
Skandy

WWMTD (What Would Mark Twain Do)

Happy #moanday (or more commonly known as monday) everyone! It was a rather inspirational day here on The Morning Show today with Oracle and Skandy. Skandy explained that you never know who and how much you will inspire in your day to day live by recalling an touching tale from his past. During the How To segment Oracle provided an awesome list of how to conduct your life according to timeless novelist Mark Twain. There were also interesting discussions as to the awesomeness and importance of Dr. Sues and Disney films in relation to childhood glee. Finally to cap off the show (and coincidently this blog) Skandy teased some of the upcoming events WLUSP will be participating in:

Hearts4Health’s People Auction on Febuary 6th

and

The Bottle Drive on January 27th

Stay tuned to Radio Laurier for more information about these and more upcoming events within the coming weeks.

Sincerely,
Skandy

It costs Batman $ 682 million to suit up

Greetings residents of radio land. It’s The Spectacular Skandy here yet again recapping the audio masterpiece known only as The Morning Show. Today started off as any with the insightful Laurier Happenings, Could Care Less and Out of the Window Weather segments. The latter two went along as usual but the former had some pretty awesome news in it. Tonight none other than Mac Miller will be playing The Turret! If you haven’t managed to purchase a ticket yet do your best to find a scalper because this will be an event you don’t want to miss out on.

Later in the show during the How To segment DJ Oracle presented an interesting list of The 10 things you need to be Batman. Interestingly enough it was written by a university professor which explains why the argument was so sound. In the end a person would need $ 682 million to be The Dark Knight.

From there we moved on to the marvelous Song of the Day which was the new track from Justin Timberlake entitled Suit & Tie featuring Jay-Z. Suffice to say it is an awesome tune and I can’t wait to hear the new album from JT.

Thank you all for tuning in, your support means the world!

Sincerely,

Skandy
