Dress to Kill.

Hello folks,

Dress to kill was the first step in today’s step to step guide in how to become the life of the party. Step two involved the kazoo. Safe to say there was good reason for the laughter in the studio as Scotty G., Lunkis, and myself hosted the Morning Show. Bringing you Lance Armstrong news, Grammy and Oscar nominations, and as always, some great tunes, much was covered over the course of the three hours. There MAY have been a heated argument over raisin bran cereal…

Tune in tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM with a brand new installment of the Morning Show with Oracle, TBA, and myself!

With love,

Rooftop

Forgive Me, my Elvish is a Little Rusty

Hello there Goldenhawks, Lunkis here!

Today’s installment of Can’t Stop the Signal was wholesome, yet silly with some weird gaming and tech related news along the way. Here are some highlights for all of you who couldn’t tune in today!

We decided that this week’s Can’t Stop the Signal would dedicate it’s music based content to all the awesome female vocalists out there. We played some healthy servings of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, a little bit of Jefferson Airplane and topped it off with a little bit of Blondie! All have very distinct, fantastic voices and stand out as my some of my personal favourite artists. Should have thrown some Kimbra in there though!

There was quite a bit of silliness happening within the realm of gaming and tech news today, including a tattoo artist suing THQ because fighter Carlos Condit has his artwork tattooed on his mid-drift in their game UFC Undisputed 3. Although… seeing as Carlos has the tattoo in reality, it would be a little silly if they had to remove all fighters distinguishable tattoos before putting them in the game.

In other news, Dishonored is going to become a franchise because of great sales,  which didn’t get either Skandy or myself particularly jazzed up. It’s a cool game but the charm wears off quickly and, let’s be honest, do we really need more sequels!?

To close off the show, Skandy and I tried our hand at a little bit of Tolkien’s Elvish language, in celebration of The Hobbit (being released December 14th). It’s rough to pronounce and mine always ends up sounding like some gargled version of French. Try your hand at it!

Anyways, Nai haryuvalyë melwa rë, and Gurth ‘ni yrch!

Princess Leia is a Disney Princess

Oh hello Goldenhawks! Today was a pretty excitable installment of Can’t Stop the Signal!

Did you know that some incredibly lucky PC gamers are getting the Mass Effect Trilogy for free, simply due to a shipping error? Yep it’s the truth: Some individuals had a Mass Effect 2 CD shipped with their Black Ops 2 PC copies, and Bioware has responded by offering gamers the entire mass effect trilogy for free, stating “if the universe thinks that you should be playing Mass Effect right now, who are we to argue?” Unfortunately, however, only the first 50 people to contact Bioware get the deal.

In other news, Star Wars Episode VII has found it’s writer! Disney has put the fate of their series in the hands of Academy Award winner Michael Arndt, known for producing the scripts of Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3. Though both movies are phenomenal, that’s essentially where his incredibly short resume ends. We’ll see how it works out when Star Wars Episode VII is released some time in 2015. If you’re feeling a little upset about this, feel free to check out our Drunken Moogle drink(s) of the day!

On a side-note, as Radio Laurier Street Team coordinator Autumn  pointed out, Princess Leia is now a Disney Princess!

Anyways, that’s all for Can’t Stop the Signal today! Be sure to check us out over on Facebook or Twitter! And for all you PC gamers, feel free to join the CSTS Steam Group! Gaming nights included!

I’ll leave you with this sweet new trailer for Grand Theft Auto V. Adios!

BLUE SKIES… FINALLY!

Goldenhawks!

After many a day of rain, the clouds have broken revealing blue skies! We’re hoping this a good omen for the weekend to come!

It’s day 2 of Movember, and Lunkis is well on his way to resembling a younger Tom Selleck. Keeping up with his mustache growing abilities is tiring, but I’m mustache growing the best I can. It’s like the space race… but way less important.

Lest us forget Oracle! She insists she is on Team Rooftop, a wise decision on her part. Mustache victory will be mine!

In other news, it’s been a wonderful Morning Show this Friday morning! We’ve spoken a little about how to perform a winter solstice ritual, a little about Halloween, performed a spoken word rendition of Tom Waits’ ‘What’s He Building In There?’, and much more!

If you missed out, do not fret! The Morning Show shall be returning Monday morning for your all around general enjoyment! Happy mustache growing world!

Assassin’s Creed 3 and Hotline Miami

Hello goldenhawks!

If you missed today’s installment of Can’t Stop the Signal, have no fear! We have an informative blogpost here for you! Today Skandy and I covered a number of important subjects in gaming tech and sci-fi news, one of the big stories being  Disney acquiring Lucasfilm. Apparently, we can expect to see an entirely new Star Wars trilogy as early as 2015.

In the realm of Gaming news,  EA’s in a little bit of trouble after posting a whopping $381 Million in losses for the three-month period ending September 30th. This is partially due to the bad reception of their latest game in the Medal of Honor franchise, Warfighter. In reality, the game is just another bad cliche of war movies. You can check out a pretty neat review (complete with parody song) over here.

I recently had the chance to go and pick up 2D mobster killing extravaganza Hotline Miami for $9.99 on Steam. Having been a huge fan of Gosling’s Drive, this game is absolutely beautiful. With an astounding soundtrack and fast, brutal combat, I’d definitely recommend buying it. Just don’t give it to your kids, it’s pretty… graphic.

That’s all for me at the moment, but expect Skandy’s first impression write up for Assassin’s Creed III later in the day! Until then, I’ll leave you with a pretty cool clip from recent stab-em-up release, Dishonored.

Make sure you tune in for our next installment of Can’t Stop the Signal next Wednesday from 3-4PM, and be sure to check out our Facebook page and Steam Group!
