Hello again beautiful people! Miss me? I don’t even know where to start about the weather- it’s been so back and forth that i’m starting to consider just staying in and not leaving my apartment. Ever. As the Laurier plague worsens, *in detective voice* who will its next victims be? But hey, with the last three weeks having seen multiple cycles of -35, 20cm of snow, and +10, can ya even blame the students for getting sick? Anyhoo, I’ve gotta say, the show- however short-was an absolute blast- from The Backstreet Boys to Camila Cabello, and some really cool things were discussed. DJ Throwback will be back next week for an exciting show, with lots planned, so stay tuned!
One thing I realized that’s happened over the last 4-5 months, has been the fact that not many top 10 songs have just completely disappeared, but are rather coming back and making headlines again. Shape of You by Ed Sheeran climbing 3 spots to clinch the 23rd spot this week on the Billboard, along with Believer by Imagine Dragons climbing 4 spots to get to #25. With Shape of You now 54 WEEKS OLD (yes you read that correct, it’s over a year old now), and Believer now being almost a year old, it’s a very very cool achievement.
I did also discuss how Cardi B‘s first 4 songs- Bodak Yellow, Bartier Cardi, Finesse, and No Limit have ALL peaked in the top 20 and are currently there right now. That is one hell of an achievement from the new rapper, she’s already making some big records and I’m sure she can only go up from here. It’s true that 3/4 of these have been collaborations with other artists but very rarely do we see a new artist come into the industry with such a massive bang. So well done Cardi B!
