The Crunch is a new radio podcast brought exclusively to the Laurier Radio Network. Host Nick Lapenna is joined by different guests every week while debating and recapping all the biggest news from professional sports around North America, including NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, NASCAR, and so much more.
To start on today’s episode, Nick brought in analyst Charlie Doris to discuss what the Packers plan is the rest of the season without their star Aaron Rodgers, as well as how legitimate are the New Orleans Saints as a Super Bowl contender in 2017.
Nick then welcomed insider Cameron Reeves to debate the move by Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock to demote star Mitch Marner to the fourth line with Dominic Moore and Matt Martin. A fiery debate ensued before the topic switched to discuss the Leafs’ decision to re-sign gritty defender Roman Polak.
After Nick then made predictions on the number of wins the Raptors will get this season, along with a prediction for the world series between the Astros and Dodgers, NASCAR expert Matthew Zurzolo was invited on the show and provided his thoughts on the NASCAR playoffs and specifically the Kansas Speedway that finished on the weekend.
To wrap up the show, Nick finished with his popular segment “Top 5 No Debate”. This segment is one where Nick picks 5 NFL games for the upcoming week and provides the viewers with insightful analysis as to why said team will win. Currently, Nick is 9-2 (successfully picked the late Monday game of Eagles vs. Redskins) and is looking to keep the hot streak going.
