The Weeknd Celebrates his Birthday with the New “Reminder” Music Video

Our favourite Starboy is back, dropping his new music video for his hit single “Reminder” in celebrations for his 27th birthday (February 16). Portraying the life of the luxurious lifestyle, The Weeknd surrounds himself with not only cars you would dream of driving but as well as private jets and “A-Star” parties.

The Canadian artist not only drops a music video on the day of his birthday but he surprises his viewers as he is accompanied by rappers who are also hitting the charts with their music such as Drake, NAV, ASAP Rocky, Bryson Tiller and Travis Scott.

The Glenn Michael directed music video was mainly shot within the LA area, showing scenes of the infamous Hollywood sign and shots of The Weeknd roaming through the streets of Los Angeles, displaying his “Starboy” lifestyle.

Not only did he drop the “Reminder” music video as a form of a birthday celebration for his listeners but it’s also a perfect way for fans to get ready for his tour, “Starboy: Legend of the Fall”. He will start within Europe and eventually make his way to North America in April! If you’re one of the lucky fans attending the concert, get ready to live the luxurious lifestyle with the Weeknd and who knows… maybe the same artists he partied with in the music video will show up too!

The Boiling Point, Feb 16

First off, let me apologize for not airing an audio show last night.

Lots of topics were covered in this week’s episode, and some of them were covered in a Facebook Live stream.  From the handshake felt around the world to the ongoing investigation into the Trump administration, there was no shortage of compelling material from this past week to cover.  Not only were there hot headlines, but there were historic events as well: Prime Minister Trudeau was officially received in Strasbourg for the passing of CETA by the European Parliament- the first of its kind- as an alternative to protectionist politics.  The PM had strong words for critics of the deal and a message of encouragement for supporters: “We can’t understate how important it was to get this deal right,” and “The anxiety people have towards the economy and trade — the worry that our kids won’t have access to the same jobs and opportunities that we had — can be addressed only if we ensure that trade is inclusive, so that everyone benefits.  This agreement … delivers just that.”

As well, the topic of autonomous weapons was looked at, and one Harvard student’s efforts to work with like-minded people to ban them altogether.  For any further updates, tweet to @BoilingPointRL.

Next show will be back to normal, regular audio, and most likely live stream.  Apologies for the mixup!

Anyone else mail it in before reading week? Good, us too. Midterms and assignments got us feeling lethargic so we decided to not put any effort into the show this week and let the fans decide how the show went. We took questions from some Friends of the Show on social media and shaped the show around them. Got some great questions, including to make up our own sport, what is March Madness, why girls have it easier at the bar, and whether we think there’s a future between Ivanka Trump and Justin Trudeau. Check out the audio and FB Live of the show below for the answers. Since we’re mailing it in, the Friday’s Five was centred around the top 5 things we love getting in the mail…

5 ) Christmas Cards

4 ) Packages one month from ordering

3 ) Pets

2 ) Key that opens the bigger mailbox

1 ) Brides

Thanks for listening and reading and we hope you have a great reading week. Stay safe, don’t read, and party without the smoke.

Hello Friday – Flo Rida

California Love – Tupac ft. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg

Body Like A Back Road – Sam Hunt

Black – Dierks Bentley

Cheers – Rihanna

Next Week Now February 16

External forces stopped there from being a show this week, the week of Feb 16, but that does not mean that the news stopped as well.

Australia has decided to remind the world why they’re so cool with the posting of a video of the second deadliest snake in the world being killed by a venomous spider. Also there’s a bunch of guys in the background cheering the spider on.

Agility Robotics, an American company, has created another robot and the point of this one is to get your groceries… maybe? Its name is Cassie and it walks on two feet and their mission statement with the bot is that it can help you out and go places for you.

Some German scientists have found a fossil of a new species of crocodile. Or more accurately a ‘crocodile-like atoposaurid’. It’s really cute. They named it Knoetschkesuchus langenbergensis so that they can make fun of non-biologists when they try to say it and it’s estimated to have lived about 154 million years ago.

A new report has found that working away from your place of work (e.g. home instead of the office) increases stress levels. One day we’ll figure out how to minimize stress coming in from external sources and on that day the only thing making us anxious will be our own body. Imagine that future.

The smallest town in Canada is called Tilt Cove. The two recently lost three of its citizens so now there are only four people left. I can’t really think of any goofs about this one. The people seem a little nutty and they don’t have Internet access so they won’t hear about my coverage of them.

Some Japanese researchers have found that dogs, our greatest companions, engage in behaviour that suggests that they may have a moral compass similar to our own. Every time I think I appreciate dogs as much as I could I learn something new about them.

I don’t know about you but I have always wanted to see a woolly mammoth. I might be able to in a couple years time. The American Association for the Advancement of Science has announced that they think they might only be two years away from completing the mammoth ‘de-extinction’ project.

That’s all for this week and I’ll talk to you in two weeks, Thursday March 2nd at 1:00pm.
