On this week’s show we talked mostly about the cap and trade system (a system where there is a limit to how much a company can pollute, if they are below the limit companies can sell their pollution rights to other companies in a free market) and China’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions using this system as well as the New Democratic Party’s promise to implement a national cap and trade system should they be voted into power. We also looked at the Green Party’s basic platform with a focus on their idea of a carbon tax to lower Canada’s carbon emissions 38% by 2050 and the pros and cons of the carbon tax.
