At 5:00 am on Sunday, the Kitchener Fire Department was called to the St. Mary’s Hospital.
The main water pipe was discovered to be broken and a massive flood developed in the basement of the health facility.
Kitchener Utilities disconnected all gas and water to the hospital as it embarked on repairs.
Patients who needed care were urgently redirected.
The President of the hospital has reassured the public that everything is under control and there is no reason to be alarmed.
