Olenka and the Autumn Lovers' Hard Times

Olenka and the Autumn Lovers' Hard Times

For Fans of: The Decemberists // Beirut // Hinindar

London, Ontario based Olenka and the Autumn Lovers have been compared to some heavy weight musicians such as Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, and Wilco. So what do they all have in common? A slight case of melancholy. Olenka and the Autumn Lovers’ 2012 release Hard Times – a seven-song EP – takes a couple of stare-at-the-ceiling-listens to fully appreciate. But once you do, you’ll have the perfect music to accompany your excessive tea consumption. Album standout “Misaligned” delivers beautiful arrangements and a variety of instruments. Other tracks “Don’t Make Sense” and “Hard Times” showcase country sensibilities that are brought out further by Olenka Krakus’ stunning vocals. Hard Times exhibits a depth not always heard in music today, so here’s hoping Olenka and the Autumn Lovers never stop performing music about the human experience.
