Daybreak Gentlemen's "The Beachwood Demos" Review

Daybreak Gentlemen's "The Beachwood Demos" Review

For fans of: The Strokes // The Black Keys // Dinosaur Bones

The Toronto / Waterloo based Daybreak Gentlemen take a different approach to their second release The Beachwood Demos. Although the album is still laden with guitar and synth driven rock, it is extremely unpolished – in the best way possible. The low-key recording provides an authenticity and energy present in every song. Standouts “Izzy Strut” and “Dead Teenagers” are toe-tappin’ tracks that highlight the band’s dance-rock style. With The Beachwood Demos, Daybreak Gentlemen resisted the need to spend a lot of time and money to produce a ‘radio-ready’ album – and it definitely paid off.
