We're Back Shawwwty!

We're Back Shawwwty!

Wuddduuuupp yall?!

We are back in business here at The RapUp and it feels like a million bucks. Over this past Christmas break there was a lot of beef, battles and bangers and if you know us…. we kept our ears the streets. First and foremost, the Grand Hustle captain T.I. dropped his eighth studio album titled ‘Trouble Ma: Heavy Is The Head’. Overall, it was a tight album and definitely better than his last installment but it kinda falls short of the king of the south’s prime. The RapUp gives it a solid 7.5/10.

Glaysh’s Gulity Pleasure gave me a little trouble but I ended up going with Lil Wayne’s new track ‘Rich As Fuck’ featuring the truuuuest man in hip-hop, 2 Chainz. The song is a leak off Weezy’s upcoming project entitled ‘I Am Not A Human Being 2′. I know that we have given Tunechi a bad rap in the past but this song gives us a little hope for Wayne in 2013. I guess its still yooounnnnggggg muuuuuuuulllaaa baaaaby!

The Realness HAD to be kicked on the current beef between south Philly’s hip-hop heavyweights. Young gun Meek Mill and veteran rhyme slinger Cassidyhave been firing shots back and fourth over tweets, bars and sometimes overly obvious diss-tracks. Meek declared the two MCs were going to be battling for Philadelphia battle rap supremacy but nothing ever transpired. I believe this bars-over-everything beef is good for hip-hop but Kamo had to disagree. Let us know what you think on Twitter. Hit us at @RLRapUp and join the debate.

Verse of the Week was definitely heated this week. This rendition of VOTW had us competing for the best “Weird & Obscure Verse”. Essentially  it needed to be a verse that was out of the box and definitely off the usual beaten path. Cutz was judging this one and yall know how hard he is to impress. I came with k-os’ indie hip-hop hit, ‘Crabbuckit’. But Kamo trumped me with K’Naan’s verse on ‘If Rap Gets Jealous’. I don’t think I’ve won one of these since O-Week. SMH.

We finished off with K/W’s very own Ramsay Almighty’s newest single entitled ‘Living Life’. The song is dope and Ramsay is coming with some real nice beats and bars. Hopefully yall will be able to see him perform live at The RapUp showcase coming up in March, but until then here is the video for the single and yall can keep up with him on Twitter @ramsayalmighty.

Anyways, I gotta peace out and get me some rest before the ratchet weekend ahead. But we appreciate all the love and do not forget to follow us on Twitter @RLRapUp for all the latest updates and links.
