Repair, Recycle, Reuse, Relove

Repair, Recycle, Reuse, Relove

Hey Friends of the Wild!

Here we are, the last week of school, moving into exams and ALAS SNOW! Tomorrow we will be talking ecotourism, because once you move in to winter everyone starts thinking about vacation time. Back to the 4 R’s though.

This week we discussed recycling and the importance of repairing, recycling, reusing and reloving the things we buy. Instead of buying new products repair the old ones, you may even make a stronger product. Companies have begun to move towards creating ‘disposable’ technology. It isn’t actually disposable, but the longevity of these products is so short it may as well be.

We also listened to the music of Macklemore. While he isn’t eco-friendly I did describe him as a socially sustainable artist. (A stretch, I know) but worth every bent rule. Check out my other blog post to learn more about him and hear about his show in Toronto on November 23rd.

Take a look at ifixit.com a really cool website that teaches you how to fix any tech you have yourself so that you don’t have to move on to your 7th iPod.

Living disposably is not sustainable and not a direction our society can continue in. Remember the 4 R’s and if you missed the episode download it here.
