Mumford & Sons...Enough Said

Mumford & Sons...Enough Said

This past Thursday on TheBackStagePass we featured a band that in my opinion is the most talented group to emerge in the past five years. Marcus Mumford and the gang have been producing music and gaining the attention of listeners across the globe with their foot stomping high energy music. They have provided resurrection to the banjo and folk music to listeners (such as myself) who originally steered away from country style music. Having said that I now cannot go a day without getting my Mumford fix in.

After coming out with their debut album Sigh No More fans were immediately immersed in anything and everything to do with Mumford & Sons. With hit singles such as The Cave and Little Lion Man I feel as though other songs kind of flew under the radar that deserve a lot more attention on your Ipod; Roll Away Your Stone and Dust Bowl Dance just to name a few. This album was followed up with Babel which came out earlier this year and has, in my opinion, received mixed reviews. But did you really expect The Hangover 2 to be as good as The Hangover..? Ya didn’t think so. Having said that Babel is an album that I love more and more with each listen and continue to find myself singing in the shower…

This rant on why my bromance for Mumford & Sons continues to grow is fueled by the ability to hear the same song in so many different ways and find a new appreciation and love for each track. By looking up The Backyard and Bookshop Sessions to hear new versions of songs such as Awake My Soul and White Blank Pages demonstrates the true talents that Mumford & Sons has. When legends like Robert Plant are asked who they are listening to and Mumford & Sons cracks the list…you’ve made it. Can’t wait to hear what they come up with next but I cannot wait.
